(Eli's POV)
"Ok everybody you know the plan. Get to your positions," I ordered and the gang split up to get ready for the mission. We all loaded our blasters and hid behind the tress near the path leading to the factory. Then as expected a wagon came down the road.
"Kord now!" I shouted and Kord dropped his cover to fire a Slyren Slug at the driver. The Slug transformed and opened its mouth wide to sing. The driver heard it and instantly fell asleep. We all dashed out and Kord grabbed the driver and changed into his clothes. Soon Kord came out in a Blakk Industries uniform.
"Alright we're good to go," I said and Kord hopped in the drivers seat and continued up to the factory. The rest of us ran ahead and hid up in the trees overlooking the wall. Kord came down the path and stopped at the entrance. Then Dex's voice came on the mic.
"D Mister to Pretty Boy, we're in position." she reported. "It's show time girls."
"Copy that Dex," I replied. "See you on the other side." I fired Larry and he transformed and I swung over the wall. I turned to see Dex, Trixie, and Pronto already standing behind me.
"What took you so long Ellie?" Dex asked.
"It's Eli, and you think I'm pretty?" I replied smirking. Her mouth dropped and I had to hold back my laugh. She punched me and we ran to the other wall and flattened ourselves against the side. I looked up and saw that the guard had his back to us.
"Go," I whispered and we ducked through the door. Once inside we crept silently through the hallways till we got to a small group of workers working on the control board. I nodded to the gang and we moved towards them. Dex crept behind one and with a quick jab to the neck he was out like a light. Kord came from above and bashed the other twos heads together, knocking them out. We changed into their uniforms in an effort to blend in.
"I got the keycard," said Dex lifting the security pass.
"Then lets get going," I said and we carefully made our way to the boiler room where Kord quickly dispatched the guards.
"We made it," Dex cheered. "Now lets get out of here." We quickly grabbed the Ghouls and hooked them together.
"How's that escape tunnel coming Pronto?" I asked through the mic.
"Pronto is ready," he reported and just then the ground shifted and he appeared. We loaded the Ghouls onto a makeshift wagon but as we carried the last few Kord tripped and dropped a case near the door. Luckily none of the Ghouls broke loose.
"I'm alright," he said and we made our way through the tunnel.
"Success," said Dex taking of her mask.
"Not yet," said Trixie. "We still have to make it to the courtyard and from there, the doors."
"We're already this far," said Dex as we came out of the tunnel. "What could go wrong?" Then we looked in front of us to see Dr. Blakk himself, and about ten other guards. All with blasters aimed at us.
"Me and my big mouth," said Dex.
"Well Eli Shane," said Blakk sneering. "What a surprise. I see you have a new friend. Nice to meet you my dear," he said to Dex.
"I'd say the same but then I'd be lying," Dex smirked and brought out her blaster. Blakk's smile vanished and he growled.
"Get them!" He shouted and the guards surged forward.
"Go!" I yelled and we ran into the fight. Slugs and Ghouls were flying everywhere and the guards were getting knocked around. Dex brought out Amp and fired him and Dozer at two guards. Dozer sped ahead and knocked them into a water bin, and Amp electrocuted it. More guards were coming and soon we were split up. I found myself dueling Blakk. I fired Joules but he just fired a Frostfang and he froze Joules. I tried a Hop Rock but his Rammstone knocked it out. Finally I fired Burpy and he and Blakk's Frightgeist collided. Then ended up both falling to the ground in a draw.
"You know it's funny how you chose this factory impartially," said Blakk stoping his fire.
"How so?" I asked cautiously.
"Because this factory specializes in a new breed of Hypnogriff Ghoul."
"I already knew that," I said loading my blaster again.
"But your new friend did not," and he gestured to where Dex was fighting. The was a guard sneering up on her from behind and he was loading his blaster with a Hypnogriff!
"Dex! No!" I yelled trying to save her. She looked up at me for a moment before a blast from behind knocked her forward. I was about to rush over when a blast sent me sprawling. I turned to see Blakk standing over me with a blaster aimed at my chest. I rolled out of the way just in time and fired a Rammstone that knocked him out. I got to my feet and rushed to Dex. She was still in the ground and looked unconscious. I knelt next to her and rolled her over. Her eyes were shut tight but she was grimacing. Like she was in a lot of pain.
"Dex are you alright?" I asked but she didn't respond. Then I started to shake her. "Come on you gotta get up. Wake up, are you ok?" Then she opened her eyes but they weren't her eyes. That warm brown color had been replaced and her entire eye had a red sheen over it. She looked at me and kicked me off. Then she jumped to her feet and proceeded to attack me.
"Oh she's better than alright," said Blakk placing a hand on her shoulder when I had been knocked down. "I'd say she's perfect. Dex." She looked up at him. "Destroy Eli Shane," he ordered and Dex turned back to me. Her eyes held no emotion. It was like a shell of the old Dex. Dex brought out her blaster and fired at me. It was Amp, who apparently had also been Ghouled. I rolled away just in time and jumped to my feet. I looked around but the others were busy enough. I turned back to her and fired a Aquabeek in an effort to snap her out of it but she fired Dozer and knocked it out. Then she fired Gust but I managed to stop him by shooting my Frostcrawler. I tried a Dustpuff but she flipped clear of the quicksand. I'm running low on Slugs. Then I fired Spinner. He trapped Dex's Aquabeek before catching her in a net. She was struggling and I quickly loaded Doc.
"I'm sorry," I said quietly before firing. This was gonna hurt her I could tell. Doc transformed and hit Dex dead on. Doc's blue healing light began to mix with the Dark Water inside Dex and I could hear her screaming. Then Doc fell to the ground a hopped happily over to me. He did it! Dex groaned and opened her eyes. The red was gone!
"No!" shouted Blakk and he fired a Hop Rock Ghoul at her. It exploded near her knocking her forward. Then he fired another and another and so on. He mixed in a couple Rammstones in there too. He was literally knocking her around. Dex groaned and tried to stand but fell to the ground again. I growled and turned towards Blakk who was sneering. He aimed and other Ghoul at but I fried Burpy first. He transformed and hit Blakk, knocking him back and burning the front of his clothes. He hit the wall and was out like a light. The guards noticed their leader had fallen and retreated. The guards were gone and they forgot the Ghouls we took! The gang let out a cheer but a painful moan interrupted them. The gang noticed Dex and ran forward asking a bunch of questions. They were generally concerned but it was helping much.
"Give her some space," I said pushing forward and grabbing Dex. I picked her up off the ground and carried her back to the Mechabeasts.
"I was so worried. Are you alright?" I asked her softly. She opened her eyes, looked at me and gave me a soft smile.
"I'm fine," she replied. "It takes a lot more than that to stop me." I chuckled quietly. Even beat up she hadn't lost that Dex Cane spunk. "I'm glad you're here," she told me before letting her head fall against my shoulder. She was exhausted and I gently set her down on the wagon behind my Mecha.
"You're safe now," I told her, brushing her bangs aside. She smiled slightly before shutting her eyes and falling asleep.
