By: Grayson Loffman
When I look up at the big blue sky, I cannot see the sun;
For all I see is the great big canopy, shading the entire forest;
I look up at the elders, for they have grown aloft
Way beyond my height, way before my time
I look to them when I am scared, in the middle of a vicious storm
They do not sway, they do not break, for their roots are firm within the ground
I look to them when I am lonely, although I know they're always here;
I have doubt that they will remain, that they might run from me and hide;
But every time I look at them, they're always by my side.
