Today, I leave Lrig.
It was what my mom wanted. She died when I was 5, the same age as when I got my Umerousa. The reason she died is all my fault. I was about to get the Umerousa when she said, "No! Don't give it to her or else!", and knocked out the doctor that was about to surgically implant it into me. Physically harming a doctor was a crime. Also, she had spoken out against the government's ways of doing things, which was a crime punishable by death. Before the execution, she said to me, "Be brave, Argentina. Be strong. And always remember this: I love you. Escape Lrig when you are ready. None of this was your fault." But it was. I didn't see the execution, but I could hear her scream a mile away. That sound still haunts my dreams. She died because of me. After her death, the Government tried to convince the young me that they were good people and that my mother had died because she was a bad influence on me. But they could not take that memory out of my head. From that day on, I knew the Government for what they really were: killers. And I would do everything in my power to get rid of them.
