"Nessie, it's time to wake up." It was my Aunt Alice. Was it morning already? I turned over to look at the clock on my nightstand. It was 6:30. Was the sun even up yet? "Hurry, I laid out your clothes on the chair. Your dad is making breakfast for you and Jacob." I was so tired, from lack of sleep I just closed my eyes and listened to her. When I didn't respond she quickly added, "You don't want to be late for your very first day of school!"

Yes, even though I am 15 this will be my my very first day of school. With that thought, I rolled out of bed sleepily and walked into the attached bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

I've been homeschooled all my life by my family. There are ten of us total; we all live in three separate houses. My grandparents, Carlisle and Esme, live in the "main house" as we like to call it along with my Aunt Alice and my Uncle Jasper. My parents, Edward and Bella live in a smaller house right behind the main house, along with me of course. Jacob, my mom's best friend from high school, my Aunt Rosalie, and Uncle Emmet live next door. Well Jake spends most of his time on our couch since he doesn't get along well with Aunt Rose.

As you can tell, my family is sort of untraditional. They are all vampires except Jake and me. My mom had me while she was still human so I'm half human-half vampire. Jacob, on the other hand is a werewolf. It sounds like a bad plot to a movie, but this is my life.

As I made my way back to my room, I saw the clothes Alice had left for me on the chair: a ruffled red shirt, skinny jeans, and black flats. Yeah, that was Alice for you. She put herself in charge of the entire family's wardrobe; we never wore the same thing twice. The only good thing is all the very lightly used clothes would be donated to charity. Vampires who contribute to charity... like I said, bad movie plot. Unfortunately for her, I inherited my mother's taste in clothing. The one where I could care less about what I was wearing as long as I didn't look like an absolute idiot. I started laughing when I noticed that hanging from the arm of the chair was a completely different outfit that was more to my liking. A simple white tee, old navy jeans, and a brand new pair of purple converse. I dressed quickly because I knew the whole family would be waiting for me at the main house.

Walking out of my room, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I am pretty much the splitting image of my dad. I have the same pale skin, golden brown hair, but mine is long and curly. If any one saw us together, they would know without a doubt that we were related. The one trait I inherited from my mother was her big, brown eyes, well at least they used to be a nice deep brown while she was a human. Now her eyes are the same golden honey as the rest of the vampire family.

"There she is." Emmet called as I walked through the glass door.

"Good morning, everybody." I called back as I made my way to the kitchen. Waiting for me on the table was a plate of eggs, sausage, and toast. I was almost half way done with my food when Jacob finally came inside. Jake and I are the only ones who eat human food. Occasionally we hunt with the other since blood makes me stronger than eating this stuff. That is another way my family is different, they aren't your regular vampires. My family chooses to spare human life, so we only hunt animals. If you looked around the room closely, you could notice them scrunching their noses at the smell of the food I was eating.

"Good morning sweetheart." My dad said as he sat down next to me. He had a look of disgust on his face as he got a whiff of the food. I gave him a kiss on the cheek. This would look weird to most people, since thanks to vampire venom, my dad is stuck in his 17-year-old body. "How did you sleep?" I knew this question was always genuine, since the others didn't need sleep.

"Fine. I'm not used to waking up this early yet." I replied.

"You're not the only one." Jacob grumbled as he took the seat on the other side of me. He wolfed down his food.

"Where's mom? I asked my dad, wondering why she hadn't joined us yet.

"You're mother is being lectured on proper first day of school attire by Alice," he laughed. Apparently Bella made an agreement with Alice. Alice gets to choose her outfits, as long as you get to wear whatever you want."

"How thoughtful." I answered with a grin.

"Is there any coffee? Jacob asked in a mean tone.

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed... I mean couch..." I laughed.

"It's not my fault everybody in this stinkin' house is a morning persons, cause they don't freakin' sleep," he complained. My dad set a cup of coffee in front of him. "Thanks man." Hopefully the caffeine will cheer him up.

"You look beautiful darling," my dad complimented my mom as she walked in the room. If there was one thing my mother hated, it was attention. Alice had dressed her in a casual blue dress with a small seater to compliment the color. She looked stunning. Emmett and Jasper clapped and whistled as Alice showed her off. My mom is beautiful, she has long brown hair, and the same golden eyes and pale skin as the rest of us. Of course, she didn't always look this way, as a human she was quite plain. I only have one memory of my mom before she turned.

"This is how you know I love you," my mom said through gritted teeth.

"Thanks mom, you look beautiful. I smiled. Just then my dad pulled her in close to him and kissed her gently.

"Get a room!" Jacob yelled finally coming out of his morning stupor. Everyone laughed. I enjoyed seeing my parents together. There was no denying that they were deeply in love. It's like watching a love story every time they are together.

"Let's go over the story one more time," Carlisle said interrupting my daydream. "Renesmee, would you like to begin. Everyday for the past few weeks we had been rehearsing the story I would be telling if any teacher or student asked about my past.

"My mo... I mean Bella and Alice are sisters. Their last name is Swan. Jasper and Edward are my brothers, and we are still Cullen. Jacob is just Jacob except he is being fostered by my aunt and uncle. Oh, and we just moved here from Canada, but I am originally from Washington." I said this as if reading off of a list. "Also, don't make friends, and don't talk to others unless it is absolutely necessary.

"Very good, Nes. You should not need to know more than that, but you can always make up something on the spot if needed.

"I still don't understand why I have to go. " I didn't do good in high school the first time around." Jacob complained. My dad shot him a warning look. "Yeah, yeah I know."

I was too anxious to wonder what that was about. All summer I educated myself by doing research of what high school was like. I read books and watched movies. I knew it wouldn't be the same as the movies, but they all had nice love stories in them so I couldn't resist. I pretty much a hopeless romantic.

Along with Jacob, I would be going in as a sophomore. I look younger then everyone else, and Jake acts immature so we were going to be the youngest. I know I'm not supposed to make friends, but a girl can dream, right?

I grabbed my backpack packed with the new school supplies Alice and I had picked out a few weeks ago, and headed out to the garage. We decided to take the Volvo since the other cars were too flashy. Jack on the other hand got on his motorcycle and sped ahead of us.

For people who did not want to attract attention, we sure stood out from everyone else. It was the beginning of August so the majority of students had tans from their days out in the sun this summer. As we piled out of the car, our pale white skin was very noticeable contrasting well with the black paint on our car. All eyes were on us as we walked toward the main building, the others walked with theirs eyes straight ahead. I was the only one looking around taking in the environment.

"Wait up," Jacob said taking fast strides with his long legs to catch up to us. "What class do we have first?"
