The morning went by pretty fast, maybe because I wasn't allowed to have conversations with anyone except Jake. We all sat together for lunch. Jacob and I would be the only ones eating, since the others didn't eat human food. I glanced around the room and noticed people starting even more intently than this morning.

"Is it always this bad?" I asked as I stared back picking at my food. I've heard horrible things about cafeteria food, so I wasn't all that thrilled to eat it.

"The staring usually stops after the first few months," Alice answered.

"Once they realize we aren't one of them it wears off," Jasper added. "It helps just to ignore them completely when they try to talk to you."

"That doesn't sound very polite," I responded.

"It's not, but it is the best we can do." My dad answered. We continued to sit there quietly until my dad growled under his breath.

"What's wrong?" my mom and I asked simultaneously.

"I wish these teenage boys would clear their heads of visions of my wife and daughter." He clenched his fist under the table turning the plastic fork he was holding into almost nothing.

"You can't help that you have a smoking hot wife, and a beautiful daughter." Jake said making the situation worse.

"Watch it mongrel." My dad muttered. He must be really upset because he hasn't used that word with Jacob in a really long time.

"Just calling it how I see it, are you gonna eat that? Jake asked Alice already pulling her tray towards him and dug in.

Oh yeah, something I forgot to mention is besides being vampires, un-humanly beautiful, supernaturally strong, and having kenner senses, some members of my family also have special abilities.

Alice is able to see the future, but since werewolves are unpredictable it took her a while to learn to focus her visions once Jake joined the family. Jake has managed to learn how to control himself over the years which is why the future is more stable. Jasper has the ability to feel and manipulate other's emotions.

My dad can read minds, well except my mom's. That is what attracted him to her in the first place, well that and the potent smell of her blood, she was human when they met. The reason he can't read her mind is because of her ability to shield her mind as well as others from abilities affecting the mind. Occasionally she will let her shield down so my dad can hear hear her thoughts. I am the only one who is able to break through her shield when it is up. I have the ability to show people my thoughts when I touch them.

"How were your morning classes?" My mom asked interrupting my train of thought.

"Only because I am technically living out history right now. Think about it. 50 years from now we will be at another high school, sitting in another classroom, and we will be learning about what the world was like 50 years ago, which will be today." Jake defended himself. Before anyone could answer, the bell rang and we were all off to our next class.

As we walked into Spanish class, Jake's comment got me thinking. Would we really be doing the same thing 50 years from now? I know the others have been to many different high schools and colleges, but I will always look too young for college. Am I really going to be stuck like this, repeating high school for eternity and forever stuck in the body of a 15 year old?

"Seńorita," Jacob said while pulling out my chair for me to sit. Of course we would be sitting together.

"Gracias," I said. We laughed because we knew this was as far as our Spanish conversation would go.
