Jack has his arm around Madison as they walk through the hallway in between classes.

"She's so lucky," a couple of her fellow female sophomores speak quietly.

She loves it, the attention. Now even the seniors know who she is simply by being Jack Gilinsky's girl. But that was just a bonus. She was crazy about Jack and wanted to make sure no one got in the way of that. Suddenly she gasps when she sees a flyer.

"Look babe!" She drags him over to where it's posted. "I've always wanted to be in a beauty pageant. Do you think I should sign up?"

"Sign up and be the belle of the ball," he kisses her forehead.

"Let's see," she glances over the written names on the page as she signs it. "Looks like Vanessa, Nadia, Andrea, and Tiffany won't stand a chance."

"What's up Lucy?" Gilinsky says as Lucy tries to walk past undetected. Her eyes close shut for a bit before she turns around with a fake smile on her face.

"Jack...Madison...how goes it..."

"We were just talking about the pageant," Madison replies. "You know, the one that Vanessa is on the board of? You should...sign up. Who knows? It might bring you two closer again."

"You would like that wouldn't you?" Lucy squints.

"She's just trying to help, Lucy," Gilinsky adds.

"Sure."

"Sign up, be a good sport." Madison grins but Lucy knows of the hidden agenda behind her eyes. She hands her the pen but Lucy declines.

"I have my own pen, thank you."

Lucy signs her name in red ink.

. . . . .

During lunch, Johnson and Kali were seated with Nadia and Swazz. Things seemed to be back to normal with Nadia and Swazz seeing as how they were feeding each other and giggling about it.

"So," Johnson began with a stuffed mouth. "I hope you guys don't mind I invited the new kid to sit with us. His name is Nash, just moved here from North Carolina and he's in my TV production class."

"They let underclassmen in that class?" Kali asked.

"Get this, he's actually a senior, skipped a grade. Some kinda genius."

"Yeah I know who you're talkin' about," Swazz joined in, licking ketchup off his fingers. "His brother's a freshman, tried out for JV basketball. Heard coach talkin' about how good he was."

"That reminds me," Nadia spoke. "Kali, did you sign up for the pageant? The meeting is today."

Kali scoffs at the thought. "Me? Pageants? Are you ill?"

"Come on, K. Try something new for a change!"

"I try new things...just not that. The idea of prancing around in swimwear, ballgowns, and showing off a random talent is pointless to me. And honestly, the guys that show up only donate so they can gawk at the girls guilt-free, it's pretty gross."
