The first place we went to look was the hospital. The five of us rush through the doors in a desperate search to find Megan. We run up to the person at the front desk and ask, "have you seen a young girl with brown hair come through here?"
The woman says that she was here but that she left about ten minutes ago. Great. Where else could she be hiding? She doesn't have any reason to keep running.
It takes us several hours to think through places where Megan could have ran to. Luke face lights up as he says, "I know where she is. She would go to a place where she feels at home. Megan feels at home next to a lake like the one at her cottage."
Of course she would. Why wasn't that the first thing that came into my mind? Before we even have a chance to breathe, we rush to a car and speed of to the lake that sits at the edge of the city.
We walk up to where Megan is sitting. Luke and I sit on both sides of her, letting her know we won't go anywhere. The other boys sit on both sides and Michael sits in front of Megan, laying down so he can look at her. I can see the relief in his eyes. He was afraid that he had lost the girl he considered his sister forever.
Luke took Megan in his arms as she begins to cry, knowing she is at home with these people. The pair seems to melt together as if their bodies were made for each other. I can hear the faint whispers of Megan reassuring Luke that he is the only one and will always be the only one. He apologizes for overreacting and the world seems to be back in alignment.
There was a long silence that never seemed to past. No one knew what to say, yet we all knew that there was nothing to be said. All was right in the world and we were okay with that. Michael makes the first move and stands up to give Megan a hug.
She gets up and wraps her arms tightly around his waist. He seems to be squeezing the life out of her, but Megan doesn't seem to mind. She has always felt safe in his arms. Megan loved Michael in a different way than she loved Luke, but it was just a strong.
After they sit back down and Luke slides his arm around Megan's waist, she says, "I went to the hospital after I ran out of the hotel room to talk to Harry. I explained the situation and that Luke is my soulmate and that you are his Sarah. He understood, but said it would take time for you two to be together like you are destined to be."
I mean this is improvement from earlier. I give her a small smile and she hugs me, knowing I am ready to conquer his memory loss as his partner. I want to work with him to be able to fall in love with him like I should have at the concert. This was going to be our happily ever after.
We all get up for a big group hug before we make our way back to the hotel. We aren't far away so we decided to walk back. It doesn't take long before people recognize the boys and start to charge us. We all take off, sprinting toward the hotel. When we finally get inside, we all look at each other out of breath and laugh.
Next day.
Harry is being checked out of the hospital tomorrow and the tour is leaving for its last stop in Dublin.
Megan and I go to see him in the hopes of triggering something in his memory. Nothing comes to him right away, but he is ready to work with us. Every once in a while, I catch him staring at me as if he is trying to force the memories to come back into his mind.
I just chuckle a little to myself because he is the sweetest soul in this world. He is trying so hard for me and I can't express to him how much that means. This is forever and I am ready to start it with him.
Megan cracks jokes that get him in the best mood that he has been in since he hit his head. I leave the hospital as this is happening. I can only take a certain amount because it hurts that I can't have Harry like we would have been if we connected fully at the concert. I just feel kind of empty.
Next day.
Harry is checked out of the hospital today. He seems anxious yesterday to finally go outside again. I am slightly late getting to the hospital to pick up Harry, nervous about what will happen when he has to perform again.
As I walk towards his room, I see Harry's band mates and the boys of 5 Seconds of Summer crowding in the hallway. The boys all look at me with sympathy, but I know they want Harry to remember just as much as me.
Once I get to the boys, I see Harry with his arm around Megan's shoulder. They are laughing at one of his puns, knowing how dumb it sounded. They truly are like brother and sister. I couldn't be happier that he feel into her at the bar.
I go to give her a hug and she squeezes me tight, passing her strength onto me. Next, I go to Harry. Before I go in for the hug, we make eye contact.
In that moment, the world around us seemed to stop. In that moment, all our memories came flooding back into his mind. In that moment, my world is finally complete.
For the first time since we met, Harry and I are ready to step into our fairytale.
