My phone is acting a hot mess, so if something seems out of place, or if it seems like a chunk is missing, please tell me.

Spitting the water out of my mouth, pulling on a shoe, and buttoning a shirt, all after taking a 2 minute shower, and slipping on the way out, is not the best way to start ones day, but I have to go see Jess. That has to be who Roman's talking about, if not ... Well just hope it's Jess.

I checked my appearance in the mirror one last time deciding to leave the little scruff I have not wanting to cut myself in a rush and look even more stupid, or miss his appearance. I pulled a maroon beanie over my messy hair, grabbed a random sweater, and rushed out of the house with my necessities in my hand. I called Ben, but if he's not out there I'm just going to have to hop a cap. Luckily whilst exiting the building I saw my driver waiting.

"Where to?", he asked in his calm polite tone.

"Do you know of a coffee place by Little Rios?"

"Of course I do sir, is that where you'd like to go?"

"Yes please, thanks Ben", I replied. He tilted his head indicting that he heard my thanks. I fixed the buttons on my short-sleeve black shirt, why'd I even wear a button up in the first place? It doesn't even go with the cream sweater I grabbed, why am I even trying so hard? I know he's not going to want to see me anyways.

It's probably a mistake for me to go, but I really need him to know that I'm not giving up, and I can't let him forget me, and he especially can't be with Chad. He needs to be with me. What will I even say when I get there, I know he's going to be mad, but I don't think he'd leave with Chad being there. Maybe I won't say anything, and just let him think of the situation, maybe I should just try and be polite, show him that I can be good for him. Why is this all so difficult?

My driver dropped me off a few shops down since traffic was too heavy to get near the coffee shop. I've messed with my outfit so many times in the steps that it took to get there that I wouldn't be surprised if I looked like a wrinkled mess. I checked my sloppy appearance in the window outside of the shop before walking in to see him sitting all up on Chad. Chad's arm was around the back of Jess's chair while Jess stared at the table in deep thought. Chad looked down at Jess with such infatuation that it sickened me, he saw me before Jess did and I'm glad at that. I walked over to the table once Roman returned from the line.

"Hey Roman", I said once he saw my face. He tightly took me into a bro hug before a wide smile covered his face.

"Derek", his soothing, deep voice purred. "What's been up lately?" I turned to Jess as soon as I saw his face pop up with wide eyes.

"What is he doing here?" He spat out in disgust. I know I should've expected that reaction, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. I deserved it though, and at least I know that he's not truly over me if he's acting this way. I still have a chance, or I at least have hope.

"My good ole buddy Roman invited me, you know we haven't seen each other in a while. It's rude of you to try and push me away". I smiled brightly trying so hard not to be affected by his words, while slapping a hand down on Roman's shoulder. He rolled his eyes scoffing in terrible amusement.

"I wasn't pushing you away from here, don't worry about it, because I'm leaving". He rushed out in-between the process of picking up his things, and speeding out of there as quickly as possible. Fuck, I hate myself, I didn't mean to make him leave, that's the last thing I wanted to do. I should've snatched his belongings out of his hands, but that would've been disrespectful, and I've already done too much to him. Chad called after him, but he didn't return.
