One day I woke up from what seemed to have been the deepest sleep that I had ever been stuck in. I hated sleeping honestly. Ever since the weird things that started happening in the asylum I just didn't enjoy sleeping, and I doubt that would change any time soon.
I woke up and got out of the bed that I was in, pulling off all the wires that were hooked onto me. There was one in my arm, another one attached to my hand, and then another one dug up inside my nose. I hated the feeling, it freaked me the hell out.
I knew that I was in some sort of hospital. I was well aware of that. I was out of the asylum, but that didn't mean that I was safe.
After getting rid of whatever machines that I was hooked up to, I made my way to the sink on the other side of the room and looked into the mirror. A bandage was firmly wrapped around my head. A bloodstain quite apparent on the right side, reminding me of what Doctor Hills had done.
I guess I hadn't been out for that long.
I looked down, finding the familiar burn markings around my wrists. I wondered if they'd ever fade away, or if they'd stay there like scars forever reminding me of what happened back there in Hills Asylum. Just the thought of it made my stomach turn and feel anxious all over.
I then went to the door and quietly opened it, peering out into the hospital corridor. It was fairly quiet and I didn't see anyone, so I decided to make my way out. I walked down the corridor and found myself nearing some kind of waiting area. A TV hung from the wall, airing the news report.
The reporter was standing in front of what I immediately recognized to be the asylum. The sound of the TV was barely audible, but I could just make out that she was talking about Doctor Hills's arrest.
Shit. If that was already on the news, then my brother probably knew that I was out. That's when I knew that I had to get the hell out of here, wherever this was.
"Miss, can I help you? Are you alright?" I heard a female voice ask me.
I turned my head to see a nurse sitting behind a desk, staring at me with a confused look on her face. I quickly shook my head and made an attempt to walk away, but was stopped instantly when I collided into someone.
"Hey, relax." The person said with a mildly amused chuckle. I was so determined to get out of here; I didn't even look at who it was, not expecting anyone familiar anyways. I tried struggling out of the person's grip, until they spoke again.
"Emilia, relax."
The second that I heard my name, I froze. I stopped struggling and slowly looked up, meeting with two very familiar blue-green eyes. "There we go." He said with a smile as he gently rubbed my arms.
"Ke-Kellin." I choked out. "I need to go. I have to get out of here."
"You don't have to go anywhere, Emilia." Kellin spoke, putting extra emphasis on his words. "We're in Michigan, you're safe here."
"M-Michigan?" I stuttered questioningly. "But if my family finds me—"
"If you don't want your family near you, then I won't let them, I promise." Kellin then quickly assured me. "Come on, let's get a doctor to see if you're fit to leave, okay?"
I nodded slowly and just followed Kellin back into the room that I left only minutes ago. It wasn't long before a doctor came in and started checking my wounds, my vitals and just about everything there was to check.
"So how are you feeling? Honestly?" The doctor asked me after he had finished.
"Fine, I guess." I muttered with a shrug.
