Chapter 11- Her
I ran a hand threw my hair and opened my locker.
I shoved my books in and sighed.
I closed my locker door and placed my head up against it.
I looked down at my converses and bit my lip.
"Hey Tatum.......You okay"?
I turned around and looked at Luke.
"Uh Yeah.......Just a headache that's all".
"Okay then..Well I got to get to class; see you later".
I nodded and he walked away.
I walked to class and sat down in the back.
Beth smiled then frowned "Hey, you alright"?
"Yes, I'm fine" I lied.
"Okay........."She turned her attention back to the board.
I played with the hem of my sweatshirt.
My teacher went on about something and I could care less.
I just couldn't stop thinking!
My dad actually called me last night?!?!
Ugh! Why is this so complicated!
I raised my hand and my teacher asked "Yes Miss Crawford"?
"May I please go to the bathroom"? I asked.
She nodded and I got up and walked out.
I walked down the empty doorway, and held back tears in my eyes.
I went outside to the old tree.
It was a tree I always use to come to, if I got frustrated and it was by the school.
I kicked the colorful leaves, and walked to the tree and sat down and put my back up against it.
I stared up at the sky.
Why can't I be 5 again?
Tears welled it up in my eyes.
"Hey, Green eyes"!
I looked at River, and he jogged up towards me and sat down next to me.
"Figured I' find you here"
"What do you want River"?
"A lot of things" He muttered.
I turned my head towards him.
He gave me a sympathetic look "Have you been crying"?
"No" I denied.
"Tatum, there are tears in your eyes".
"No, my eyes are just taking a shower" I said.
His lips curled up into a smile.
A real smile.
"What's wrong Tatum"?
"Nothing" I said.
"Tatum the word fine for you means; depressed, lonely, scared, dying, lost, hurting, empty, anxious, trying, and broken. "
I had more tears prick my eyes "River, please stop".
He wiped a tear with his thumb "Me and you both know I won't; till you tell me".
