I tried to look strong for Nina but inside I was falling apart. We'd gone back to the stables after the sun had set. We'd buried Anne on the fields knowing we couldn't do anything official, people would wonder how it happened. Now I lay in my stall next to Nina memories flashing through my mind. Anne had saved my life when I was just a foal and taught me to fight and use magic. I thought back to my wife who had died by Ace's hand as well. I'd never trusted myself to get close to anyone after that, yet somehow Nina had gotten through to me. I knew I couldn't close out the world again like I did then, Nina needed me and we needed to end this. The others slowly fell asleep around us and eventually even Nina did. I laid in the stall silently thinking about the past. I tried to avoid it but I couldn't help but flash back to the battles I'd fought two years ago, battles I'd hoped to never relive. I knew I was stronger then the others, I'd been through so much more yet I was still falling apart from all this. I stayed awake for hours slowly piecing my mind back together like I'd taught myself years ago. Without that skill I don't know what I would've done. I finally drifted off into an uncomfortable sleep, wondering where this journey would take me next.
