Chapter eight
'So tell me what Alex's story is?' Bruce asked when Maya got back to their table. They were filling him in on the situation and all. Alex and Ghalia were at school. 'Her story?' Mandy asked, she looked as uncomfortable as a pig in a smoke house. Bruce couldn't help but wonder why, Maya gave her friend a shake of the head and Rez was begging Mandy with her eyes to shut the hell up. Mandy lifted her chin stubbornly and looked them in the eye. 'Guys he's gonna freak whether or not we tell him now or later.' She said and looked at them pointedly. 'Oh, Mandy. You're so neurotic.' Maya said with a sigh. They were so different. 'Well, May. You know that's what life is all about right? Neurosis, capitalism, war, death, face book and my space' Rez said and smiled at Bruce. He had yet to understand their little jibes. Mandy thanked her and gave Maya her best glare. 'Well, are you gonna tell him or should I?' Maya asked.
'I'm not saying a thing. It's your neck.' Mandy replied, shrugging. She lay back in the plastic chair.
'All right,' Maya started. 'It was a gloomy day, with clouds gray and bills to pay.'
'Maya, we want to finish before the school day ends.' Rez said and sat forward in her chair. 'Alex's mom is the queen Lucinda Storm. She wanted Alex to be on top of the social pyramid. Alex was forced to date the most popular guy in school and she had no say in it. Peter dominated Alex and she hated him.' the diner faded and another scene appeared in front of Bruce. It was a school cafeteria. Alex sat next to a boy who had his arm slung across her shoulders, she looked sick and nauseated, her attention was captured by something and Bruce looked to see what it was. A girl with fire red hair was walking by the table with a few girls following in tow. She gave Alex a smile that ran his blood cold. Alex turned back to the table and put on one of her well known fake smiles, the people around the table didn't seem to know her well enough to know she was faking it.
The scene filtered through to another and Alex was in a dark bedroom with the girls, crying. She was complaining about Peter and made it clear she was going to run away. Before any of the girls could say anything to her about her plan a woman's voice rang through the walls. The queen- Bruce recogenized- came in through the door and spoke to Alex as if she was a child, telling her that she was going on holiday with Peter. She continued her speech by telling Alex that Luanda would be joining her. Alex was about to protest but her mother silenced her with a glare.
The scene changed once again and a little white room appeared. All the girls were there except for Alex. They looked very worried and agitated. A young girl with blonde hair burst through the door, breathing heavily. She looked excited. 'They found her, Luanda too.' She looked breathless, and her eyes sparkled with what looked like hope. The girls jumped to their feet and rushed to the foyer.
'I'm sorry, you can't see her.' Queen Lucinda said as she blocked the entrance to the court infirmary. Mandy and Rez was about to protest, but Maya cut them off. 'Yes, you're most wise highness. We shall wait until our best friend is well enough to speak with us.' She drawled and pulled the two girls with her; she pulled the blonde girl along as well and dragged them up the trail that led into nearby woods. On their way to the boarder of the woods they saw the same red haired girl that Alex seemed to be afraid of in the first vision Rez had shown Bruce. 'Aaand, where do you think you little brats are going?' she sighed as she looked at her nails in boredom. 'We are going to do a ritual, to remove you stupid home wrecking ass from this lovely planet, Lisa.' Maya said with a sweet voice. The girl narrowed her eyes at them and decided that silence would be the best answer at this moment; she turned and walked of in the direction of the castle. They continued their way through the woods until Maya led them to a ledge that looked out over the ocean. Before Rez or Mandy could show any signs of distress, she pushed them of the ledge and yelled "swim!"
