[] Hi Hi! If you aren't interested in entering a contest or any future blog input, skip the bold words to read chapter two.
So, I have a new contest in mind! It has to represent what ship you sail with. #Tay, #Jewt, or even if you somehow miraculously already ship it, #Jarlie
Anything can happen in the scorch ;)
The winner's edit will be posted in a TSV chapter and in the Imagines book with the selected ship. May the best edit win! I'm also thinking of making a blog. Should I? Comment your thoughts! -A[]
Daylight couldn't have arrived sooner. Thomas was already up and slipping on his shoes when the boys awoke. It was hard to sleep without Jay nearby. Even in the maze she slept either in his hammock or a few feet away. Never as far as she was now.
"Thomas..." Newt groaned, rubbing his head when he heard the creaking of the lower bunk and the shuffling of footsteps. "What are you doing up so bloody early?" He blinked his bleary eyes and sat up in the cot.
Minho pulled the blanket over his head with a grumble. "Shank...Woke me up from my beauty sleep...Keep the shucking noise down..." He huffed and turned onto his other side. Winston and Frypan mumbled their own complaints before quickly falling asleep again.
Thomas chuckled at Minho's remark and looked up at Newt. "I'm going to go and meet up with Jay early in the cafeteria." The answer sent a hurtful pang in Newt's chest but he smiled despite it. He had to try and learn to get over it.
He and Jay were friends. Admitted, if Thomas ever hurt her, he'd step in to try and be the night in shining armor. But he knew the Greenie well. He wouldn't let anything happen to her.
"Yeah...See you later, mate.." Newt murmured before Thomas set off through the door and out to the hall. He power walked to the cafeteria where Jay stood with Charlie, laughing and talking about some random thing.
Jay herself had a restless sleep. Thinking about the bodies that were brought in made her feel uneasy. She only hoped they could obtain any proof that this place was actually not what it really was so they'd turn and get t
Thomas felt his heart flare with jealousy and he came up behind her, hugging her. "Morning, gorgeous." He murmured and kissed her shoulder. Charlie chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully.
"Dude, I'm not trying to make a move on your girl. If I were, you'd know." Charlie flashed his charming grin. Dimples and all. Jay leaned back into Thomas' embrace with a chuckle. "Stand down, Alpha."

Thomas let out a relieved sigh and he kissed her head. "Sorry...Habit. She was the only girl in the maze and it made me sort of...protective." Jay laughed, looking up at him. "Sort of?"
He grumbled as she teased him, hiding his burning face in her shoulder. "Hush..." Charlie laughed at the pair and ate an apple he had gotten from the lunch basket containing the fruits. Thomas lifted his gaze over to Arris who gave him a discreet nod of the head.
"Would you excuse us for a minute." Thomas flashed a forced smiled and then walked over to where the rest of the Gladers- who had recently ambled in -sat in their sleepy state. He slammed his hand against the table, making the half-asleep Gladers jump to attention.
"Oi! Stop waking us up!" Newt huffed annoyedly and Jay pushed Newt's head playfully. "Shush. We have to tell you what we saw yesterday. What Arris showed us."
Thomas and Jay alternated in the retelling of the story. The bodies, the mysterious door, the keycard. It all made no sense.
"We have to get in there." Jay murmured, her voice lowering as guards marched past them. "Agreed." Minho nodded, frowning as he thought. "Which is why I'm going to get my name on that list somehow." She finished and ran a hand through her hair.
"No. Absolutely not." Thomas and Newt chorused. They were too caught up with Jay's safety to spare challenging glances at each other. "I won't let you put yourself in danger." Thomas crossed his arms over his chest.
"This isn't about my safety, Thomas. This about all of our safety." Jay whispered back with a defying look. Thomas immediately took her hand and tugged her off to a slightly hidden corner.
She stood against the wall, his right hand resting one one side of her. "I won't let you put yourself in danger." He clenched his jaw, his brown eyes boring into her own. Jay narrowed her dark chocolate colored eyes. "Good thing that I'm putting myself in danger then. You aren't doing it Thomas. I choose this. It's the only way."
Just as she was about to walk away, he put his other hand on the other side to cage her in. "It is most certainly not the only way. I won't let you go on with a plan that could end up with you killed. We can find another way. I can't lose you. I won't." He stated determinedly.
She sighed and rested her hands on both of his cheeks. "You won't. I will be right here. I promise you...I guess we can try to find another solution..." Jay bit her lip, sighing defeatedly.
"Good. I'm not going to let you out of my sight." He nodded, pressing his lips against hers swiftly. It was a gentle, loving kiss. "I love you." He whispered against her lips to which she replied similarly. "I love you too."
They pulled away after a short while and headed back to the table. "Alright, we're going to need a new plan." Thomas held one of Jay's hands, both of them sitting at the head of the table. Newt nodded and the boys immediately started to delve into strategy.
Jay let out a deep sigh. If only he knew. She was going to do this her way. She wasn't going to put anyone's life in danger except hers. It was too big of a risk to put the whole group in danger. This was a one man job. Or in this case, one woman job. Thomas couldn't stop her.
She would have to figure out her own plan without him.
Her eyes flicked over to Arris and then back to Thomas. "I'll be back. I'm going to ask Arris if he knows anything else." She let her hand go from his own and stood, walking over to where Arris sat and sitting down across from him.
She spared a few glances over where Thomas and the other Gladers sat and was relieved to see that they were all occupied with trying to come up with a new effective plan that still kept them under the radar. They were too busy to notice if anything suspicious was going on at Arris' table.
Little did they know that Jay was already working on a foolproof one herself.
"Hello Arris. I'm going to have to ask you for a favor."
