Phil
Shaken awake by his mum, Phil sat up from where he was slouched over in the passenger side seat of the moving van.
"Phil, sweetie, we're here"
He looked over at his mum smiling at him, as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Okay, um..it's Monday, do I have to start the new school today or...?" Phil asked, groggily
"You'll start tomorrow. We need to unpack as much as we can today, and then it'd probably be best if we both got some rest," his mum said, sighing as she unlocked both doors.
"Well, then we should start unloading," Phil said, climbing out of the moving van.
Dan
Tired. Dan was so tired, tired from being up all night, crying. Tired of having to hide his arms behind fabric for so long. Tired of having to deal with everyone at school, and in the world. Tired of his parents not caring. He was tired of living.
But
He knew that he had to keep going.
"I'm doing this for you," Dan muttered under his breath as he walked bast his younger cousin, Lucy who was passed out on the couch in his family's living room.
She had been living with them since she was about two, and she was five now. Dan to her, he was like a big brother. She was the only one that really liked him, the only one that would love him no matter what, or at least, that's how he felt.
Her parents -Dan's aunt and uncle- had been killed when they were on vacation, Lucy had been staying with Dan and his parents at the time.
They had both been shot, while outside their hotel. At first Lucy didn't know what had happened, and Dan's parents never wanted to explain it to her, so Dan told her that it was kind of like what happened to Bruce Wayne's parents. At first she didn't know what that meant, but in a year or two she found out, thus starting her obsession with Batman.
"Danny," She mumbled, reaching out with both hands, her way of asking Dan to pick her up.
"Hey Lu," Dan whispered, reaching down to pick her up off of the couch, "Why are you up so early?"
"You woke me up with you big feet," she giggled, pointing down to Dan's boots.
He sighed before setting her back down on the couch, "You ought to go back to sleep," He told her, kissing her forehead.
"Why don't you?" she asked, yawning as Dan tucked her back under the blanket.
"Because, I have to go to school," He whispered as he got back up, and walked over to get his car keys.
"Oh," Was all that Lucy could say before involuntarily falling back asleep.
"Yeah," Dan whispered to himself, as he grabbed his backpack and walked out the front door, heading to his car.
Whoop. I finally got an update in. I hope you guys like it, mind commenting your thoughts on it so far? I'd really appreciate it...
