There isn't much to tell between the months of August and April, we never talked. I mean we mad eye contact, he was somewhat friends with my sister, but I still didn't know his name. So, I'm fast forwarding to the month of April.
*****
It's been 8 months since school started. I still haven't talked to him yet, I'm too scared. Besides, I've seen him with some other girl and they look really happy. Who am I to ruin that? I didn't want any problems with anybody. I found out that the girl was a good friend of my sister's. I won't lie, I was really jealous of her. She was everything that I wasn't. She was pretty, and then there was me.
But, one day, that ended. I don't know when it did, but it did.
I was standing outside by the buses waiting on my two friends when I felt somebody behind me, so I turned around. I froze immediately. I didn't know what to do. It was him, that angelic, breathtaking person.
"Um, Hey, I'm Garrett. You're a friend of Damon's, right?" he asked.
There was a long silence, I couldn't believe he was actually talking to me. This is actually happening. C'mon Hannah pull yourself together and answer him.
I cleared my throat, "Oh, um, yes, I am. I'm Hannah. It's nice to meet you." I said to him.
He half smiled. "It's nice to finally meet you too." he said looking at me.
I couldn't help but look into his eyes. They were so, beautiful. There isn't any other word to describe it. His eyes were a light brown, but not too light. They were perfect. All I could do was stare into them.
I think I made him a little uncomfortable. He cleared his throat a little bit "Well, my bus is here. I should get going. We should talk more, Hannah. You're different. I like that." he said, smiling at me. He started to walk away.
"Thanks, you too, keep in touch, Garrett." I responded. I felt like a total idiot. Great, he's probably scared of you now. I couldn't help it though, he was just, perfect to me.
I waited for him to get on the bus before I started walking home. I was walking down the road when I heard a familiar voice, his voice.
"Bye Hannah!" he yelled out to me through the bus window.
I laughed at him a little and waved, "Text me!" I yelled back. I sounded like a total idiot in how I said it. But it was okay.
When I got home, I did my daily chores before doing my homework. It was my day to do dishes, so it took me a while to finish.
"Finally, I'm done." I said to myself as I put up the last dish.
I walked to my room and checked my phone. I had a new follower on Instagram. It was Garrett. My heart kinda jolted when I saw it was him. I didn't think that he was serious about us talking more. But I figured I would follow him back. There's no backing out now.
***
It was the next day. I didn't hear out of Garrett last night. Which I wasn't expecting to, I didn't think he was actually serious, turns out I would be very wrong.
I got ready for school and headed out the door in no time. I was actually excited to go to school today. I was anxious to see him again today.
My day was pretty average, I didn't see him around school today, which I never really did to begin with. He was a grade higher than me.
Let's fast forward to the end of the day again.
I was standing outside by the buses as I always did, when Garrett approached me. Oh My Gosh, Keep it cool Hannah, You got this. Don't screw this up.
"Hey, how's it going?" he asked with a smile.
"I'm good, what about you?" I lied I was actually screaming inside because he was actually talking to me again.
"I'm pretty good. I'm sorry I didn't text you last night, I fell asleep." he said rubbing his hand on the back of his head.
"That's okay, I totally understand." I responded, smiling.
"Good, I didn't want you to get mad at me, I did say I would text you after all." he explained. Please, like I would ever get mad at him as easily as that.
I giggled at him, "I wouldn't get mad about that, Garrett. There's plenty of time for texting."
Then his bus decided to show up. Great.
"Looks like I've got to go now. I promise I'll talk to you later." he smiled and ran off to his bus.
I walked home and went to my room. I threw my stuff down on the floor and jumped on my bed. What a day. I'm actually talking to him. We're actually friends.
A few hours went by and I felt my phone buzz. I picked it up and checked what it was.
It was, Garrett. My heart was racing at this point, but I decided to answer him.
Garrett- Hey
Me- What's up?
Garrett- Nothing really, wbu?
Me- I'm talking to you, duuh.
Garrett- Lol, that's true.
Me- See, I told you.
Garrett- Yes, you did. Want to play a game?
I was confused at his question. How do you play a game over text?
Me- What game?
Garrett- We send songs back and forth and we each have to listen to it all the way through.
I giggled to myself. It didn't sound much like a game, but I went along with it anyway.
Me- Okay, you go first
We sent a few songs back and forth and talked a little about them in between. It was actually kinda fun. Before I knew it, it was almost 12 o'clock.
Me- I've had a lot of fun talking with you tonight, but I have to go to sleep XD
Garrett- Okay, I will see you tomorrow. Goodnight and I've had fun too.
Me- Goodnight :)
I put my phone on charge and closed my eyes. As sleep overtook me, all I could think about was Garrett..
