Chapter Ten-Showdown (Epilogue)-Arizona; 1853

The Drifter protected Sybil.

     "I don't think you want to do this, Sheriff", he said.

     "You ordered that carriage robbery", the Sheriff said.

     And then he saw the rumpled bed.

     "You touch my daughter, and I'll blow you away to Death Valley", the Sheriff said. He aimed his double barrelled gun at the drifter's head.

      "DADDY! DON'T!", yelled Sybil. She got in the way, as the Sheriff fired. Sybil crumpled to the bed in a pool of blood.

       The Drifter, fuelled by rage, fired two double barrelled guns with both hand, and shot the Sheriff in the back, and chest.

       He heard the loud thud as his body crashed onto the hard ground...and died.

EPILOGUE

The Drifter left the blood soaked Saloon of Dead Men.

      He knew that the Sheriff had murdered the woman he loved.

      He paid 10 gold coins to the barman.

      And then he headed through the double doors of the Saloon. Then he walked into the darkness of the hot, Arizona desert.

     And, as he did so, he continued to go on his way. And, knowing that Utah was his next destination, the drifter ignored the pain in his dark soul, as the warmth of Sybil's body made him smile...the last, final, smile he saw in the endless heat of Arizona.
