Chapter 1 ~
"Did you hear me, Ross?"
"Uh? What?" I turn my head away from Aaron, who is stood at the bar. Aaron locked eyes with me until he frowned and looked away.
I shift my eyes towards Carly who is staring annoyed at me.
Carly sighs. "Should we get another round in?"
"Maybe we should go back to yours, so I could treat you" I smirk, leaning in and capturing Carly's lips.
Carly breaks off from me more quickly than I expected.
"Tempting" She smirks playfully. "But I think we should get another round in" Carly says, not budging and gives a fake, persuading, sweet smile.
These days I knew those smiles with the amount of times she does them to me...
I give a fake but convincing smile back. "Sure, I'll go and get them, shall I?"
"Will you? Aw, thanks!" Carly says, smiling and leans in and kisses my cheek.
Of course I will, I always do...
I get up from my seat and walk to the bar just across the room.
I sigh, fed up, as I stand patiently waiting to be served.
When I can ditch Carly, I will. Why did I even agree to go out with her?
Is she with me for what money she can get?
Or does she actually love me?
I can't even handle her being so goddamn annoying all the time anymore. Especially all the questions she always asks.
It's like she doesn't even trust me..
At first, it was bearable.
But now...I suddenly come out of my thoughts as I notice Aaron stood behind the bar and I couldn't help stare at him.
"Why don't ya take a picture it'll last longer." Aaron says gruffly, looking at me with slight annoyance.
"Whatever Livesy" I say with a slight attitude, shaking my head.
"Ya think you're so fit, don't ya?" Aaron asks.
"Not fit." I tell him. "Absolutely bloody gorgeous!" I say enthusiastically and grin widely.
Aaron scoffs, shaking his head.
Aaron rolls his eyes, taking a sip of his drink.
Aaron puts his glass down. "Ya think highly of ya self, don't ya think?"
"Are you surprised though?" I point to my face, smirking. A small smile breaks through Aaron's exterior and he looks away trying to hide it.
"Besides, if I don't call myself fit, who will?" I told Aaron, with a slight shrug.
"A lot of people are attractive by the way and don't brag about it." Aaron told me.
"Bet they're not as fit as me, though" I told him, with a cheeky wink that only I could.
Aaron huffs a laugh, shaking his head at me momentarily.
I look away, trying to act casual again.
"Ya weren't at work earlier.." Aaron says, giving me a curious look.
"So what? Why's it any of your business, anyway?" I ask, defensively.
Aaron shakes his head. "It's not" Aaron takes a sip of his drink. "Ya can't just take time off when ya feel like it, that's all"
"Yeah, well, that's up to me, isn't it?" I respond defensively again.
Aaron nods, breathing through his nose. "Right, yeah." Aaron looks away. "What did ya want anyway?"
I smirk, knowing I could easily get on Aaron's nerves. "Just same again, if that's okay with you?"
"Yeah, that's fine by me." Aaron says gruffly.
Aaron stares at me for a second before shaking his head and obtaining two glasses to fill it with lager.
"What's taking so long, Ross?" Carly says beside me, smiling sweetly again.
I turn my head to face her. "Oh, nothing. Just having a friendly chat with Aaron here, aren't we?"
Aaron scoffs. "If ya say so." Aaron hands us both the drinks. "£6.40"
"What no please?" I smirk.
Aaron sighs with his hand in my direction.
"Fine" I hand over the money. I walk away slightly. "But you'll say it next time, I'll make sure of that." I say playfully with a cheeky wink and a smile.
Aaron scoffs, shaking his head at me before biting his lip to hide a smile.
-----
Later in the evening ~
I take a long swig of my lager finishing it off.
I am about to bring my glass down onto the table but I stop halfway as something catches my eye.
I see Aaron turn around to face his mum, Chas, but I couldn't help tilt my head watching how his body curved as he turns around. I shift my eyes to his backside. I couldn't help sit up straighter and admire it.
"I'm just going to the toilet" Carly tells me, getting up.
"Yeah, okay.." I murmur, uninterested; forgetting she was there.
Carly sighs as she walks away from me but I'm too uninterested to care.
I look at Aaron for a moment longer before he turns around. I quickly turn my head away from him, but not quick enough, as he catches me looking.
Aaron frowns at me before shaking his head at nobody in particular.
"Let's go home now, hey?" I look up and see Carly walking towards me, rubbing her hands together.
"Yeah, yeah, sure." I slap both of my hands on my knees, yawning.
I stand up, picking up our lager glasses and walking to the bar.
"Cheers" Aaron says, receiving them.
"No probs" I respond. "See you tomorrow."
Aaron nods. "See ya tomorrow."
I walk away but stop suddenly feeling eyes burning into the back of my head.
I frown and turn around curiously and my heart skips a beat when I see Aaron looking at me from the bar. He looks away and stares at the floor as I catch his eye.
I sigh to myself before walking out of the pub into the breezy night.
