Chapter 3 ~
I stick my head out from under the bonnet of the car I were finishing off and yawn.
I sigh, wiping my greasy hands on a cloth and reaching in my pocket for my phone.
I switch the phone on and wait to read the time it was.
I tap my foot patiently, shifting my eyes around the Citroen to check if anything else needed fixing.
Once I was sure there was nothing left to fix, I check the time.
6:05pm
I yawn again before pulling and shutting the garage doors and locking them behind me.
I'm about to walk home but I hear footsteps behind me. I ready myself in case it's Robert to give me payback.
"Hey.." I hear Aaron's voice. I turn around and smile at him.
I look down at his appearance and how he had cleaned up. He was no longer wearing a hoodie but a black jacket along with black skinny jeans and smart looking boots.
"Hey, where are you going?" I ask, intrigued by how nice he looked.
"Well.. I hoping ya might wanna go out to a bar for a couple?"
I frown. "You're joking, right? With you?"
Aaron frowns back. "What? No. Yeah with me." Aaron responds back. "I mean, ya don't have to.." Aaron sighs and shrugs. "Y'know what, never mind, eh?" Aaron walks away from me.
"Hey, wait up.. I didn't say ought!" I shout after him. "Just give me five minutes to get changed!"
Aaron walks back to me. "Fine. Hurry up then." Aaron responds gruffly.
"Alright grumpy." I reply back, before running to my house, where my family also live.
-----
I look at myself in the mirror again before fixing my hair one last time.
A knock on the door stops me from making any more changes.
I run across the living room to the door in a flash.
"Would ya hurry up, would ya?" Aaron says gruffly again.
"Alright, alright." I respond quickly before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind me.
"Ya have money for a bus, don't ya?" Aaron asks as we walk across the village.
I nod. "Yeah, brought it just in case."
Aaron's eyes go wide suddenly. "Shit! There's the bus." Aaron points down the road.
"Godsake! I wouldn't think we would have to run across the village tonight!" I breathe heavily.
Aaron sticks his arm out as he runs and luckily the bus stops and waits for us.
"That's luck, that is!" I say to Aaron beside me as we get on the bus.
-----
"What? Here?" I question.
"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" Aaron asks.
"No, but... Bar West, isn't that a gay bar?" I ask.
"Yeah, so? Ya don't have to follow me if ya don't want."
I think for a second. "Yeah, you're right." I reply and follow Aaron into the bar.
-----
"What should we do now?" I ask.
Aaron furrows his brow, shaking his head.
I take a sip of my lager. "Pool? Or darts maybe?"
"I prefer-"
"Sorry, to butt in but are you two on a date?" A guy asks.
"Erm, no, mate." I reply.
"Can I borrow your friend, then?" The guy asks Aaron.
"Erm..." Aaron frowns, looking at me.
"Sorry mate, but I'm... straight." I lie.
"Oh why are you in here then..?"
I nod my head towards Aaron. "Him"
"Oh" He says simply before he looks away again.
Aaron scoffs at me. "What?" I ask.
"No matter where ya are, ya always seem to attract people to ya." Aaron shakes his head, unbelieving the situation.
"It's just me, like I said I'm gorgeous!" I tell him, smiling.
Aaron looks around. "I think every man's looking at ya to be completely honest."
I shrug. "What did I tell you."
Aaron huffs a laugh, shaking his head.
"So you gonna pick up a guy tonight, then?" I ask, making conversation.
Aaron shakes his head. "Nah, I'm alright."
"So, what are we gonna do all night then?" I ask. "Oh wait! Let's get some shots in!"
"I do wanna go home sober, ya know?"
"Oh c'mon, lighten up!" I say enthusiastically.
Aaron sighs. "Alright, fine. You're paying then." Aaron smiles slightly.
"Deal." I hold my hand out and Aaron shakes it.
-----
Me and Aaron throw back our fifth shots.
"Godsake! I feel- feel dizzy as hell - hell." I say slight tipsy. I rub my forehead.
Aaron laughs. "They're not-not too bad." Aaron throws back another. "It's your fault anyway for b-buying them-m"
I grin. "You - you agreed! Maybe, we should go-go..."
Aaron nods. "Al-alright.."
Me and Aaron get up slowly. "Ugh, I d-don't feel so well.." I groan, holding my stomach.
"Let's - let's quickly go - go.." Aaron stumbles on his words.
Aaron and I stumble out of the door, bumping into each other and giggling like little girls.
"We'reee gonna have to call - call a taxi.." Aaron slurs.
I step wobbly off the path and onto the road. "Yeah, I guess we're- whoa!" I walk sidewards and trip over the curb and grab onto Aaron's shirt, keeping myself balanced.
"Are you..." Aaron starts, staring into my eyes.
"I'm sorry..." I apologise, staring up into Aaron's eyes and getting lost in them.
I look down at Aaron for a second longer before making the decision to close the gap between us and bend down further to capture Aaron's lips. I lift and rest my hand against his cheek.
