It's cold...
Amber saw puffs of her own breath in the cold, icy air. As she walked along the path leading to the meeting place, a small, egg-like creature (in fact, it was an egg) scuttled on behind her. As always. Having lived so many years alone, she was comforted by its presence. Although it was still at an early stage in its life, it felt . . . warm.
The hair on the back of her neck tingled. Something was very, very wrong. The rustling of wind playing on the branches of the trees seemed to blow harder. Not that gales of wind weren't common in Nieve, but . . . suddenly, Amber heard something that wasn't normal at all for the area. A rambling noise could be heard over the sounds of wind.
Snap!
Fir trees' trunks snapped against an unknown force. The trees tumbled down the mountainside – heading straight for Amber! Amber grabbed the egg and attempted to run past the line of contact of the snow and trees. It was definitely an avalanche.
Not being the most agile of people, plus the coldness of the air around her, she moved slowly. The force of the avalanche was strong, she had to admit. But desperation of getting away from the slabs of snow rushing towards her at an incredible speed made her legs move faster.
The 'glass' looking snow was cracking up and collecting powdery snow. Along with that, it was collecting debris, which consisted of the whole forest and . . . her village! By then, Amber was far out of reach for the avalanche to hit her. A puff of powder engulfed Amber and Ismeretlen, her egg. A gust of wind blew at the scene, dispelling the tiny particles in the air, which left . . .
"No!" screamed Amber, frantically scrabbling to the broken village-houses. But a part inside of her felt like they . . . deserved it. After all, the villagers had left her side, scorned her, abused her and deserted her for being different. This was simply because all of the villagers had sky blue irises, while Amber had fiery orange-yellow irises. They had dragged her out of her own home and repeatedly hit her with a jagged twig from the nearby forest for being a 'fire imp' who . . . no, that, would somehow destroy them all. There wasn't even a clear reason or basis of that theory!
Question why her parents hadn't stopped the abuse? They had left her even before the other villagers had started turning against her. The order of the village, having not want to have any ties with her, cast her out to live on her own. Amber grit her teeth, then smiled wryly. The strange thing was, the difference from her 'home' and the rest of the population of the village was a mere fifty metres apart.
There were also countless times before the betrayal, that they had helped her. That included learning how to summon from a scroll, a few survival skills also using summoning and how to cook. Thanks to their teaching, she excelled on the topics summoning and cooking.
Amber looked back at the destroyed village with the eyes of vengeance and pity at the same time. "Goodbye, you miserable traitors," she hissed. But thinking back, she added, "Thanks for everything." She walked away from the scene – and fell into a black hole which somehow resembled an actual black hole.
The darkness consumed her and dropped her off in a grassy plain. Adonis flowers had overtaken the grassy hill and mana streams flowed from the soil. A few tall rocks loomed ahead, along with a dark silhouette outlined by the glare of the sun.
Who...?
Her eyes focused on the silhouette, trying to ignore the sun. It was a girl around her own age, light reflecting off the silver of her armour. Her deep red irises were intense, seeming to tell a thousand tales in a glance. In her hand was a worn-down but still shining double-edged spear. Her brown hair seemed golden in the light of the sun and a golden phoenix roamed above the girl's head . . . she was Ophelia.
She leaped off the rock she was sitting on, and landed safely on the firm ground. Meanwhile, another girl, wearing traditional Rong Khun guard uniform, had joined them on the hilltop. She had black hair tied in a low ponytail and an undeniable smirk on her facial features. Her brown eyes looked respectful, but had no mercy on any foes in the field. Two shortswords were sheathed in the back of her armour and two in her hands. A red dragon trailed on behind her with its green eyes vibrating with power. Amber presumed this to be Eaucrat.
A rush of air blew away from the rocks as Angelina settled on the grass next to Amber, holding her ever-glinting sapphire staff. Behind her crawled the pixelated alien, legs moving wildly to catch up to its master.
As the four girls were finally gathered together, they could start working on whatever Mossa had planned for them. Amber tapped her foot on the hill. When would Mossa show up?
Before any of them had a chance to say anything, a whispering voice could just be heard. "Eradicate the evil."
Eaucrat's eyebrows furrowed. "What evil?"
A swirling violet void opened up beneath them and swallowed them up, leaving the grassy plains alone and quiet . . .
