Smøke | Eight

Christopher Brown.

Passing through the living room my ears raise when I hear Carter and Brayden singing along to some words they shouldn't be saying to a show.

"You ain't nothing but a snitch bitch, snitchin ass bitch!" I retrace my steps and stare at my sons in shock. "And you know, you know!" They point back and forth at each other.

"Y'all got school tomorrow. Go to bed please." I mumble and head off to the kitchen to get a glass of water. I almost drop my glass when they start yelling lyrics again.

"My hitta, my hitta, my hitta!"

"I'm finna hit both you if you don't get in the bed." I say walking out and before I reach the living room they ran out and upstairs, just where they needed to be. And I couldn't help but text Levi, I really miss her.

To Levi: Hey baby

From Levi: Not your baby, but hey

To Levi: I miss you

From Levi: Bye

To Levi: I'm serious, you busy by chance?

From Levi: No

To Levi: So you got anything you wanna share?

She knows damn well I came in her. And she got my seeds, why she fronting.

From Levi: About?

To Levi: You got my seed girl

From Levi: Oh that. I'm pregnant...

With frustration I quickly just turn off my phone. Sometimes she be tripping, let me just give it God and go to sleep. Within the next few hours, my alarm blazed at my ears from my iPad on the dresser. I lazily reach it and slide the screen so it will shut off. Four am and I have to start getting ready. It was a struggle to get all three kids up in the morning. Seryah came with me to work and wasn't a problem, but Carter and Bryson are a damn mess.

By time I'm finished and dressed, they're just starting to brush their teeth while I try to pack their lunches.

"Is mommy ever coming home?" Ryah asks as I finish spreading peanut butter thoroughly on a slice of bread, pressing it down to the jelly I toss it in a bag then place a random bag of fruit snacks from the bottom of the pantry and toss it in the lunchbox.

"I'm not sure baby. Wanna call her, see if she answers?"

"Yes." And with that I hand her my phone and she tries to call Mel. I didn't know what else to tell them, I knew they missed their mother but there wasn't much I could do but besides call and when I called nothing came through, she didn't come through.

"We ready daddy." Carter says playing with his soccer ball near the door.

"Come get your lunches, and stay out of trouble. Stop chasing girls at recess cause you like them, I used to do that shit." I mutter as they extend their arms to take ahold of the bags.

"How old were you daddy?"

"When I chased girls? Like 9." I laugh as I take up my wallet and car keys, Ryah sits near the door playing on my phone, a sign that Melonie didn't bother to answer the phone. Bitch ass mother.
