That night after the race, Jense had decided it would be essential to drag me out to celebrate and Seb joined us, he was more than willing to lose himself in some alcohol. Lewis, Nico, Daniil, Daniel and Max tagged along as well. I had been slightly reluctant to go at first since I was not very open to the idea of clubbing. I had never been one for confined spaces filled with the writhing of bodies against each other on the grimy dance floor. However, after some persuasion on Seb's part (not to mention the puppy dog eyes he picked up from Max, UGH BOYS PELASE TONE IT DOWN), I relented but only to celebrate my first podium.
We'd picked a larger booth in the corner of the club and soon enough, Seb and both Dans had been thoroughly buzzed with the number of cocktails they had taken in. Jense had stuck to his bottle of beer, only half finished and Lewis, Nico and Max had decided to go with vodka and wine. I held onto my glass of lemon cello and swirled it lightly, marveling in the warm feeling blooming in my chest as the liquor got to work and I felt myself relax. That always did the trick.
"Care for a dance?" Max asked all of a sudden, tilting his head to the side like a puppy. I could see less of a strain in his shoulders and more laughter lines crinkling by his eyes. The alcohol was doing a good job.
"I can't dance." I replied, shrugging, to which he yanked me to my feet causing me to yelp in surprise. I barely managed to set my drink down before he dragged me away from the rest.
"Nonsense. There are only good or bad dancers in the world because everyone can dance." Max scoffed and tugged me along to the dance floor. He swayed from side to side and for a moment I considered just leaving him there but he flashed me a hopeful smile (THE PUPPY DOG EYES DAMMIT) and I couldn't help but give in, following his lead because I was an honest to god horrible dancer and couldn't even dance for nuts.
We danced for a bit and when I glanced back at our booth I found the guys looking half-drunk. I took at glance at my watch, it was just past midnight and probably best that we headed back to the hotel, which thankfully was two blocks down.
"I think we should head back. It's getting late." I said to Max who whipped out his phone to check the time.
"You're right, let's gather the rest." He sighed and we headed back to the booth, squeezing out way through the throng of people.
"Here's the couple of the night! Come on we were just about to start!" Lewis called, raising his shot glass. I exchanged a confused glance with Max, at that rate we wouldn't be back until the wee hours of the morning.
"Start what?" I asked. Seb grinned cheekily and picked up Jense' empty beer bottle before setting it on its side in the centre of the table.
"A good game of 'Spin the Bottle'." He said, a cheeky glint in his blue eyes. I frowned and eyebrow in question, how childish could they get.
Seb spun the empty bottle and it landed on Nico.
I could hear them whispering faintly in German but I couldn't catch what they were saying. He leaned across the table and pressed his lips to Nico's for a few seconds before moving away.
"Any longer andss Lewisss will kill me." Seb slurred teasingly and Lewis cheeks flushed with colour, whether from embarrassment or anger I couldn't tell.
"I've never played this before." I whispered to Jense. He gave me the most betrayed and horrified look I'd ever received in my life. I tilted my head to the side as a gesture of him elaborate.
"What, not even in uni?!?" He gasped in mock terror. I frowned at him and shook my head.
"Haven't even kissed a guy before." I shrugged sheepishly, no harm and telling the truth. I hadn't really focused on relationships while I was studying because I wanted to be able to open as many doors for my future as I could due to my inability to choose a bloody career. But then again, I'd never expected myself to make it into Formula 1 either.
Jenson looked at me liked he'd just seen a ghost. I wanted to wipe that looked off his face. It scared me.
"You're serious?" He asked, this is quite concerned. I rolled my eyes, he was overreacting.
"Oh relax, there's no need to make such a big deal out of it. I just wasn't really interested in getting into a relationship when I was in uni nor were there any guys who were even interested in me. Not that I noticed at least." I downed my glass of liquor.
Nico had spun the bottle. It'd landed on Daniel and simply to spite Daniil, he gave Dan one long-arse of a kiss to the point where Daniil looked like he was about to burst with jealousy.
It was all rather amusing to tell you the truth.
It was Daniel's turn to spin the bottle and he got Max. As wasted as he was, he gave Max a sloppy peck and sat back down, leaning on Daniil's shoulder, who shrugged him off, stilled miffed about his kiss with Rosberg. I could see Daniel whining and whispering a multitude of apologies to Daniil while kissing up the side of his neck. I turned away, that was something they could have at least done in private.
Max looked mortified, having never kissed a guy in his life but he continued with the game nonetheless, albeit a little more hesitantly.
I grabbed another shot and downed it when Lewis suddenly let out a wolf whistle and Nico chuckled.
"And the lady finally gets to kiss the man of her dreams!"
I raised an eyebrow at his outburst and looked at the empty beer bottle. It was pointing at me. I looked up at Max and suddenly felt like a deer caught in headlights.
"First kiss ayy." Jense teased softly, poking me lightly in the ribs. I swatted his hand away for a distraction but I eventually had to shift my gaze back to the pair of piercing cerulean eyes that seemed to be pinning me down.
"Well, what are you guysss waiting for?" Seb hiccupped and Nico gave him a pat on the back. Max shrugged and leaned forward. I did the same for a lack of experience and knowledge of what the heck to actually do when instigating a kiss.
He glanced down at my lips and up to meet my eyes as if asking for permission before leaning in to press his lips to mine.
His lips were soft and pliant, tasting of red wine and something minty. I didn't do much since I wasn't sure how to react and finally Max pulled away, looking, surprisingly, a little disappointed.
"You jusss stole her firsss to kissss man!" Daniel slurred drunkenly and Max's eyes widened. He looked at me and I rubbed my neck in obvious embarrassment, I could feel the blush rising up my cheeks. Thank god for the dim lighting.
"So I'm your first ever huh?" He asked. I decided I wasn't ready for my mouth to say anything so I nodded in reply.
With that, Max grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair and rushed out of the club leaving me stunned and maybe a little heartbroken.
I'd never imagined that the first boy that I'd actually started to have feelings for would be my first kiss and well... my first heartbreak...?
