Allira
~Allira watched as the woman slipped in and out of consciousness for the next three days. She never left her side worried she would wake alone. The memory of finding her nearly dead still haunted her vision, blurring her from reality. Whoever attacked her must have heard Allira coming because when she found the woman, she could still smell the fresh scent of them nearby.
Leaning against a small chair that was nowhere near comfortable Allira decided sitting up would be much better. She watched the woman's chest rise and fall, listening every few seconds to make sure she was breathing. Her neck was semi ripped up, her forearm shredded, and her insides nearly ripped out from her abdomen, below her ribs. Along with claws pierced and raked all over her flesh she looked as if tossed into an alligator swamp and made as food to devour. Through all that suffering, Allira could still see the elegance she once saw the first time she met her. Her long auburn brown hair lay around her chest covering her shoulders. She remembered the smirk she used with confidence and her slender body edged with thin hips and a full rack, only helped bring more confidence to her. She only noticed so much because everyone else did when she first saw. This woman comman dead a room. How she survived at all was a big surprise to her. The image of her being hurt emanated Allira in a frenzy.
Allira felt like she needed to be near her. To protect her. It was confusing to her to care so much for a woman she only met once. She noticed her walk into the restaurant and asked to be her waitress when it wasn't her turn. Something about this woman made Allira want to be closer. When the woman flirted with her it caught her off guard. Not because she was surprised the woman flirted. She was startled by her own physical reaction to it. Allira liked it. At the end it scared her but every day she hoped the woman would walk back into the restaurant.
Looking down at this gorgeous woman who scared her, Allira wanted to reach for her hand. She didn't because she thought it would bring back the arousal she felt the first time she met her.
A knock at the door snapped Allira from the admiration she was feeling for this woman. Whoever knocked didn't bother waiting for her to respond and opened the door. She motioned for him to stay quiet as the tall lean man stepped in.
He looked at her quizzically then murmured. "Your father wants to see you."
Allira waved him off not looking his way.
He grunted as if that would force her to look his way. Yeah, like that didn't do anything.
"Jack, tell my father I will come by later." Allira didn't move and waited for him to leave. She knew he wouldn't. He was well up his way to one day becoming Alpha and also becoming her mate. There was no chance of either. She should be Alpha, but because she was a woman that wasn't considered an option. "What does he want?"
Jack chuckled as if he heard comedy in her question. "Do you always have to challenge your father's orders?"
Allira snarled at his unneeded comment then rose. "Stay here." She stood, pointing for him to take a seat. "I don't want her to wake up alone." Jack wasn't my first option in watching the woman but he was my only at the moment.
Jack tried to reach for Allira's hand and got nothing but the air when she quickly put it down to her side. Shouldering her way through the door Allira walked to the front of their home where her father stood leaning against the wall next to the fireplace.
Her father was a hard man to please. He stood up to six feet, stocky build, with a stern aggressive look that had everyone quickly look down before even trying to gaze into his eyes. His jaw structure was wide and rectangular, with a sharp curvy chin. The only thing soft on him was his black hair. His eyes were the toughest thing to look at. He wanted it that way. Standing only a few feet away she spoke. "Father?"
He ignored the tone in her voice that suggested she didn't want to be called on. He stayed glued to the wall gazing at her. "How is she?" he asked emotionlessly.
Allira straightened herself. All business I see. Her father could never show an act of emotion. "She's still alive." She thought deeper on it and continued. "I believe she will make a full recovery."
"You didn't see who attacked her?"
Great. That's all he cares about. Who invaded his territory? "No, they were gone before I reached her."
"They? There was more than one?"
"Yes."
Her father rubbed his fingers through his light trimmed beard and sighed. "Recognize any of their scent?"
"No. They were definitely not from around here." Allira wanted to roll her eyes, but if her father caught her he would chastise her. He was Alpha after all and had a killer back hand slap. "Is that all you wanted to know?" she asked dryly.
He snarled at the attitude he heard in Allira's voice, poking his chest out to show his dominance. Allira quickly lowered her head not risking upsetting him more. Just because he was her father didn't mean she got special treatment. If anything, she was pushed and disciplined harder. She would become the future Alpha's mate someday and she was his legacy. Only child. "What is this...woman's name?"
"I don't-''
"You said you've met her before?" her father cut her off with a snarl.
"At work," Allira responded back briskly. "I don't ask every customers name." Realizing she spoke in a challenging tone it was too late to apologize. Her father quickly moved to her, slapping her across the face, bringing a painful stinging feeling. She could never avoid his slap.
Allira didn't protest or even look at him. She bit her lip.
Her father snarled one last time before slowing his breaths. "In three days' time she will shift and I don't want her shifting with this pack. We don't know who bit her and how she will act. I don't want her near my submissive wolves." He stepped closer to her invading her personal space. "You will be there to help her through the shift. If things go well, bring her back, if not...kill her."
Allira accidently looked up into her fathers' eyes then dropped her gaze quickly to his shoulders. Kill her. She didn't know anything about this woman but knew her life was about to change dramatically and killing her was not a part of that itinerary. Allira nodded anyway.
"When she wakes up, take her to your home. She can't stay here and she can't go back where she came from."
She nodded again.
"Go."
Allira headed back toward where the woman slept, anger boiling below the surface. Allira opened the door as Jack popped off the chair sidling her. "Why do you always challenge-''
"Shut the hell up, Jack," she growled.
She may follow her father's command and listen to him drill her but when it came to everyone else, especially Jack she could give a damn what they said.
He frowned shaking his head, then walked out.
