Cameron's POV

I lift my head up from the steering wheel, holding the phone to my eye level. Her mother phoning, I press the accept button. Then listen into the phone.

"Hi Cameron, I'm here at the reception. Would you like to come in with me to see Sky?"

I look up with excitement.

"Yeah. Of course!" I say trying to play it cool.

I jump out the truck, literally running to the entrance. There is only one lady waiting over by the counter. It must be Sky's mother.

"Hey, it's Cameron. Sky's mother right?" I say curiously.

"Yes, that me." She says surprised, looking over at me.

"Right this way." The nurse says, showing us to Sky's room.

We follow the nurse. We end up at this large room. I look and see Sky, my heart is beating so fast that it feels like it is going to leap out my chest. I walk over to her as quick as I can, grasping her hand.

Her mom looks over at the nurse worryingly.

"What happened to her?" She asks the nurse, looking agitated.

"She had been hit quite hard with a large object, out at the beach. Her lungs also had too much water filling in them." She says showing sky's mother a few documents.

"Can we have have some time alone?" She asks the nurse, sitting down in the chair.

The nurse nods her head, then exits the room. Her mom takes Sky's hand, while I stand to the side looking at my feet. She places a piece of hair behind Sky's ear, then kisses her forehead.

"It's all my fault." I say, with a worry look on my face.

"How come? What happened?" Her mom asks, frowning her face.

"Sky and I decided to go surfing, we stopped for a while." I say innocently.

"Then this massive wave came, knocking us both off our boards. Causing us to tumble against the harsh sand. " I say using hand gestures.

"Just as we reached the surface, another wave came knocking us down again. This time I got to the surface, but I couldn't get Sky." I say with the most sour expression ever.

I saw my board zooming towards her. I swam to her as fast as I could. But it was too late." I say, with tears streaming down my face.

She takes my hands, looking into my eyes. Tears streaming down her face as well.

"Don't blame yourself, I'm sure she will be fine." She says lightly sniffing.

-

It's already the next day. My head down on the bed, holding Sky's hand. I see movement. I look up from the bed, it's Sky! She's awake!

"Sky are you alright." I ask knowing that she is, but I want to hear it from her.

"Who are you?" She says scrunching her eyes at me.

"It's me, Cameron." I say surprisingly.

"I don't know you." She says with a confused look on her face.

I look down at my hands. Did the board really hit her that hard? Does she have amnesia?

I was about to kiss her, give her the biggest hug at the beach. I wanted to ask her out on a proper date. Now she doesn't even know who I am. It won't be the same.

I try my best not to cry, I hold it in. I just can't. My throat burning, my mouth dry. I sniff, blinking trying not to cry. I run out the room, tears streaming down my face. I run past Sky's mother, her facial expressions shows that she is confused and worried.

I run to the entrance, hitting the doors open. Running to the side of the building. Hitting my back against the wall, sitting down with my knees to my chest. I pull at my hair, out of aggravation. Hitting my head back against the wall. Covering my face with the palms of my hands. It's all my fault, I keep telling myself.
