A gust of cold and crisp wind sweeps away summer
Remnants of popsicles and midday slumbers
Disintegrating to welcome another Fall,
A time of thoughtful choices and wonder for all.
Trees begin to paint their leaves red, orange, and brown,
And slowly each leaf spirals in giddy loops down
A sense of serenity and nature's harmonious call
Arises from this time of decisions for all.
Bring out the feast when October comes near,
Many thanks we have to give and nothing to fear
Turkey, gravy, culinary joy will befall,
A time of fun and appreciation for all.
With the intensity of the sun's rays reduced,
More time spent in the comfort of home is induced
A nice novel in hand, sit yourself on a chair
Or pass many an hour watching trees grow bare.
As pumpkins are grown and the dark grows quite wary,
Approaching is the day meant for all things scary!
Put on a costume and hunt for candy in pairs,
During the shadowy night, when the trees grow bare.
Pumpkins sit on porches, menacing their eyes seem,
But this handy squash is not just for Halloween
The essence of sweets, it can be nice or a scare,
Ever-changing like when trees sprout leaves, then grow bare.
A chilly season it is, perfect for a pie,
Hot from the oven with a golden-brown crust, my!
The scent of pastries wafting 'round corners of walls,
This is a time of homemade indulgence for all.
Every small bite of bread and sugar-filled goodness,
Every minute near the fire of happiness
Is what gives autumn its magic; friendship and care,
Though leaves may fall, trees of love will never grow bare.
This is my last poem for the month! And just in time, too. Phew. :)
