We ran for about twenty minutes deep into the woods before we stopped to catch our breath.
I turned to look at the girls and yelled, "we have to go. come on!"
Fany looked at me out of breath and cried out, "Hey you try pushing a baby out of your crotch and then running a marathon."
She fell to knees as Alejandra added, "she's right I spent the last few years trying to be pretty not do p.e. "
Eddie and i looked at each other and sighed.
"We're going to have to do this aren't we?"
Fany who was fighting to catch her breath stood up and said, "How about the two strong Men carry the tired woman for a while since you're in such a hurry."
With a hesitant look me and eddie walked over to the girls and picked them up. I looked over to eddie and said, "lets go."
We walked for about another hour or so with the girls on our backs who had fallen asleep and let us carry them like babies. Eddie and I had grown tired and stopped for a rest.
The girls woke up and Eddie looked over at me and asked, "So what do we do now?"
"I don't  know. It's not like the asylum won't come for us. They have our information."
Estefany looked over as she inquired, "Not necessarily."
"What do you mean?"
"They have our faces. That's all." Alejandra added.
"We are all john and Jane does. They never bothered to put names on file because they never suspected an escape." As Fany finished telling me how incompetent this mental institution was it became clear on what our chances were.
I look at them with sincerity I said,"thank you."
Fany touched my shoulder and said," Its not over yet don't thank us. At least not yet."  She stood. "Let's go."
As we kept walking the question became clear.
"So what now." Eddie asked as he looked at all of us. "What's the plan?"
Alejandra made a good point when she added that the three of them couldn't just go home.
"Our families know we're institutionalized they'll just send us back."
"Good point you can stay at my place but for the time being its getting dark we can't keep going for much longer even if we make it out of the forest it'll look suspicious. So we have to set up camp."
"Maybe not." Eddie looked relieved as he pointed to the sky.
"Fire."
We ran to the source of the smoke like kids chasing a rainbow and found a log cabin. An adult couple walked out with a teenage girl no older than us.
"So do we take the nice approach or the fun approach?" Alejandra asked as she looked at us.
Fany stated that we may not need to resort to violence. "They seem like a nice family who'd be happy to help kids like us."
"Psychos?" As I gave my sarcastic input our conversation came to an abrupt halt as we over heard their conversation.
The man walked over to the teenage girl and said, "Don't worry sweety it will be okay now go play." As the girl turned around to get on the swing, The woman pointed a sawed off shotgun toward the back of her head and pulled the trigger. Our jaws dropped as the girls body hit the floor and the woman cried out, "she was pregnant with your baby."
That poor little girl was raped and murdered for it. There was nothing she could have done to stop it.
"Put her with the others!"  The woman yelled.
Fany couldn't stop shaking. But it wasn't from fear, it was out of anger. She stood and said," I guess we're doing this the fun way."
I tried to calm her down and tell her we needed to be smart about this. She looked me in the eyes and said,"they killed that girl and her innocent baby. That's unforgivable. Sneak in around back I got this." Eddie and Alejandra crept around to the back of the house and I grabbed fany.
"I'm not letting you go. Not alone." She walked to the front door and  knocked.
The man opened the door.
" Hello... "
Fany began to cry," I'm sorry to bother you sir but I'm lost my car broke down and I didn't know where to go I just-"
He stopped her. "It's okay just come in."
She walked in and the man went in to hug her. He was really just trying to feel her up.
"I don't think that's a good idea." I said and He turned around and drew his attention to me.
"Who the hell are you?" He yelled.
Fany picked up a knife and slit his throat. We walked into the kitchen and saw Alejandra on top of the woman stabbing her repeatedly.
"Are you done Alejandra."
"Eddie get them out of here. Burn the bodies."
"Cedric we might not have to stay, I found the car keys."
I looked at fany and suggested we should rest up for the time being.
She looked at me and said in a sarcastic voice, "Four killers in a cabin in the woods. How cliché." She walked away humming the old toon again. "Mr sandman bring me a dream...."  She walked into another room and I sat there in silence. I kept thinking to myself what do I do now?
I laid down and tried to get some sleep. But kept reliving that night every time.
I walked into the kitchen to get something to drink. And fany sat at the table in jeans and an adventure time shirt.
" Its good to see there's more to you than a pink dress."
She looked at me and laughed, "so what's wrong can't sleep."
" Nightmares."
"What if they aren't  nightmares. What if they are memories. What if you're remembering what happened that night."
She got up and walked into the room, "maybe you should get some sleep."
I laid back down replaying what fany had told me. The nightmare happened again this time it was different. As I laid in the street and the bus drove off I saw the license plates.
When I had woken up I was in a state of panic and shock. I felt someone breathing over my shoulder.
"You were right."
"So the dreams were memories. Psychosomatic breakdown of that night. So what are you looking for?"
"Party bus log ins for the one that's registered under these plates. Every time the bus stops its location is logged into records so that they can find it. This one's longest known location for that night is..."
I paused and estefany looked closer at the screen and muttered," The grand? What's that?"
I leaned back in my chair and responded, "It was my senior prom."
