Little Horizontal Scratches

I am floundering in a world
where they don depression like a badge
where they flaunt their darkest insecurities
and wave their pasts in the air
screaming
look at me
type up your sympathy and press send
I am dark and cold
let me prove it
They love little horizontal scratches across
pale, smooth wrists.
Personally,
I keep my story under
lock and key.
because I once poured it out to
a stupid boy
and the only
comfort
I got
was
"you're pathetic".
I sure FELT pathetic.
like every fleeting thought of death
every bitter tear
was deemed as laughable
even to the ones
who supposedly
love me so.
there is no sympathy
no compassion or empathy
in a world run by self centeredness
and tell me,
Am I the only one
to see through this mess
