Today was Saturday. Thank God. Lying in bed was the only thing I wanted to do today.
But, I had band practice today, in the garage. We're preparing for the local 'Battle of the Bands' so we're trying to nail our songs.
In Battle of the Bands, you get to perform three songs, usually. We've been practicing, San Francisco, by the Mowgli's and Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House. We're trying to figure out what song we should do but no one is agreeing to the same song.
In the midst of my thinking, as if right on cue, at 8:10 AM, every Saturday, I could faintly hear the lock in the front door slowly turning. Then came the screech of Jordan's battle cry as he ran through the house, up the stairs and into my room, waking everyone up in the process. When he saw me, he gave me a big grin and bellyflopped on top of me.
"Oh my god, Jord," I groaned, "Have you put on fifty kilos since yesterday?"
"Probably, since, you know, muscle weighs more than fat and I worked out for like twenty hours yesterday. I'm not kidding." He states, not moving off of me.
"Oh wow. The thing is, I'm not even sure if I've seen you lift more than two bags of Macca's."
His mouth drops open. "where have you been my whole life? Seriously, I've known you since we were babies and you don't believe in me? That hurts, right in the heart." He says, placing his right hand over the right side of his chest.
"Man, you're dumber than the blondes teen movies. Your heart is on the left of your chest."
He moves his hand to the left, with a frown on his face.
A faint knock was heard from the door of my room with a "Violet, can I come into your room?"
With that voice heard, Jordan looks at me with his eyes wide - he doesn't know about Andy.
"Who is that?" Jordan whispers to me.
"Uhhhh, Mum's fiance?" I whisper back at him.
"Yeah, yeah, sure come in." I holler at the door.
As Andy walks in, Jordan's gaze drops from me to Andy, then back to me.
"What the fuck?" Jordan shouts
"Language" I scold
"Like you don't curse" Jordan rolls his eyes at me.
I ignore him and ask Andy, "What's up?"
"Well, your mother and I were going out to breakfast and we wanted to know if you and Luna and maybe Jordan, is it, would like to join us?"
"How do you know my name?" Jordan asks Andy
"Audrey has told me about you. You're Violet's best friend. She also warned me about your Saturday morning routine. Those sounds are wretched, by the way."
I smiled and said "Well, we will come but, I think it's better if we ask Luna."
"Sure. We are leaving in fifteen minutes." Andy replies and walks out of my room.
"Jordan, can you wake Luna up, and convince her to come with us? Please?"
"Was that Andy Mayo?"
"Yeah, now go wake Luna up."
"I've got questions for you."
"PLEASE"
"Why is Andy Mayo in your house?"
"Later"
"How does he know about me?"
"I'll buy you three big Mac's if you shut up and go to Luna's room and get her to come to breakfast. If she doesn't come but, you try your ABSOLUTE hardest to get her to come, I'll buy you twenty nuggets."
