"I want that dolly. She's so pretty! Look at her round eyes; they're so sparkly!" A little girl smiled gleefully and pointed at an arrangement of china dolls in a window of a sophisticated toy store.
The store owner popped out and grinned at his guests. "Yes, each are hand-crafted by myself. I base them off real people to try and keep them as realistically beautiful as possible."
"My, that must take some work to get them as human as possible." The mother of the little girl glanced back at the doll's to analyze its eyes. She thought for a moment that the doll had blinked.
The store owner nodded. "Yes, it took me very long. But, I had my lover help me. Unfortunately, she disappeared a few weeks ago, so I made a doll replica of her in hopes to remember her." His green eyes looked sorrowful.
"Well, if you don't mind, is it okay if I see that doll? It would be very helpful for the both of us."
The store owner nodded and waved the two customers inside. He pulled out a small wooden box and opened the lid. Inside was a doll with silky [hair color] hair and huge [eye color] eyes. Her lips were parted slightly, but the doll looked strangely frightened.
"This doll looks so peculiar; its expression seems a little startled," commented the lady.
The store owner sighed. "Yes... There is a story behind it all if you'd care to listen."
"This store is for the Funtom Company, right?" A woman placed a box on a counter and examined the room. She sighed and looked around. The counters were covered in tarp, and dust still lingered in the air. A man followed after her and dropped another box on the counter, creating a cloud of dust.
The man coughed a little and smiled. "No. It's more for my own pleasure."
The woman laughed. "You? A toy store owner? That's sorta funny, considering that you were once an undertaker."
"It's nice to have a change, isn't it? You changed my life, too." The man, formerly known as Undertaker, came and snuggled the woman from behind.
The woman laughed. "I guess so... You've changed, too. You cut your hair a few days ago and dyed it black. I really liked silver you." She ran her hand through her partner's silky hair only to hear him purr in affection.
"You're really beautiful, too. You're like a porcelain doll. Beautiful, young, ever so romantic."
He turned her head and gave her a small peck on the cheek.
The woman gasped. "What is this? This is... No! I can't believe you!" She turned away in disgust.
"[Name], listen please. It's for a good reason."
But, [Name] didn't want to hear it. "Yeah, okay... Keeping detailed drawings of other women. Even photographs! What kind of lover are you? A cheater?"
"[Name], please. I'll explain if you let me."
[Name] pulled away when her lover tried to hold her. "I don't want to hear it. After all we've been through, and after all these years... I get this. This is why I spent my life helping you and your stupid doll shop."
The man sighed. "You know I would never do this to you. I only use these photographs for reference. You're my only, special love. And, you know that."
Feeling a little guilty and out-of-line, [Name] sniffled. "I guess you're right. I'm sorry."
Her lover chuckled. "That's unusual for you. That's okay because I promise that tomorrow will be the best day of your life."
[Name] cried out in pain. She didn't want this. It was supposed to be the best day of her life, and she received this? A punishment?
"Agh! Shit...." She twisted and turned, but the slicing continued.
"Amazing, [Name]. Your porcelain skin is being cut open, and now you're dyed in ruby red." The usual chuckle, the one she was fond of, now sounded frightening.
Tears rolled down her face as pain ate her away. "Why? Why me?"
Her face was grabbed and pulled close to the man's face. His bright green eyes greatly contrasted from his pitch black hair. "You're beautiful. That's why, [Name]."
Defiantly, [Name] shook her head away. She threatened to bite him. "Liar! You are... You're up to something!"
Laughing, her former-lover-turned-torturer pulled out a doll. A china doll with blonde curly hair and a blue dress, almost resembling Alice from Wonderland.
"You see this. This doll was a beautiful creation. It was made from a specific girl. The clothes, hair, and body were modeled after an actual person. In fact, that actual person was MADE into this. Do you see now, [Name]? Look closely at her face. I would be able to sell this doll if only its facial expression was more pleasant. This young girl fought me back, so her face turned quite ugly."
[Name]'s eyes grew in fear. There was no way that she could become a doll. Not yet. She had a life to live.
"You're beautiful, too, so I decided to keep you forever like a doll. Be nice now, so that you'll look sweet on a shelf, hm?"
He pulled out a syringe filled with a bizarre pink fluid. [Name] quivered and closed her eyes, wincing and waiting for the pain. That's when the syringe poked her, and [Name] screamed in fear as poison filled her body.
The mother looked disturbed at the shop owner. "Th-thank you, sir. We should be on our way now." She grabbed her daughter by her shoulders and steered her out the door.
The man sighed. "I keep losing customers, [Name]. I would sell you, but your face is scaring everyone off." He caressed the doll's china cheek.
"Oh well, you're my sweet dollie. You're all mine in the end."
