Chapter 36

Discovery

Batcave

Terry and Dick were roaming Bruce's computer files at the Batcave. They were looking for some kind of file that had things Bruce kept secret. They were looking for some kind of last message. They found random words here and there like Batman appearing out of nowhere, Europe, yesterday, Orion, noble, and dedication.

It took them almost three hours to look find something. When they finally did, they just found they found a file with a voice password.

Dick and Terry had no idea what this password was, they looked back at the recent files they read. They couldn't find anything for another hour.

That was until Terry realized something, "What if the random words meant something?" Terry asked Dick.

"Batman, Europe, yesterday, Orion, noble, and dedication? Those words?" Dick asked.

"Yes, I just realized something, take every the first letter of each word, it spells Beyond." Terry said. The computer file unlocked.

"The password was beyond." Dick said amazed.

In the file, there was only one video. The video dated back all the way to when Terry became Batman. Terry and Dick played the video.

The video started off with Bruce taking a seat in front of the camera. "My name is Bruce Wayne. I was formerly known as the Batman. I made promise to my late parents, I would stop Gotham's criminals. I failed, I realized that I was becoming what I had fought." Bruce stated he paused for a long second. "Today, on the day of the Purge, a young man came to me. His name is Terry McGinnis. I recognized the last name. CADMUS was running a project called Beyond. It's a project creating a new Batman for a new generation. Terry McGinnis was the test subject. This is all a theory, last I heard the project failed. Waller and Strange could've lied to me though-" Terry threw a huge grey rock from the cave at the computer and broke the computer.

"Why the hell did you do that?!" Dick questioned.

"That son of a bitch! He lied to me!" Terry yelled. "He told me he knew nothing about it!"

"That could've had valuable information on it!" Dick said.

"I don't care. Damn him." Terry said. "I once thought becoming Batman was a choice. Now I'm finding out that I was destined for this God forsaken life. Take over the mantle Dick. I don't care anymore."

Terry walked off the Manor enraged.
