"C'mon Samirah it'll be fun I promise" Aminah said walking towards the restaurant. The night was warm and felt peaceful which calmed me on the inside. There where barely any stars out except for a few, which seemed to shine brighter than the moon itself. I turned and followed behind Samirah into the restaurant. She always seem to be in the lead.
"Table for...7" Harim said demandingly. I could tell the waiter was already annoyed with our group, being in the restaurant for only 4 minutes. " We have a table of 8 available sir" the waiter told Harim in a high pitched tone. "So give us that one" Harim said in a "duh" type tone. We where all here. Me, Samirah, and our two good friends Jameela and Aleeyah who we have known since high-school. Us four always did things together and would always have such a great time enjoying each other's company. To the left, there was Harim of course, then 2 other guys. One of them was his cousin named Yunus. He also seemed to share qualities of his cousin. He also was fit but taller than Harim. He had green eyes and a natural tan with black curls. He always seemed to be a big jokester whenever I saw him, making light of every situation turning serious ones into some type of comedy. For moments at a time, it seemed to me that he would glance at me then look away. Or maybe I was over thinking the situation I thought.
We got seated and started ordering our food while Samirah was too busy chatting with Harim. "So how's life?" I asked Jameela, who had recently started her new job at H&M. She always wanted a job there since it was one of her favorite places to shop, and she finally got it. "Girl I cannot tell you how hectic it is. I gotta deal with ratchet customers always Tryna start a problem with me. They lucky I just got this job doe cause yo messing with me? Nah son they really don't want it" she assured. That's what I loved about Jameelah, she was funny, kept it real, and always brought with her fun vibes wherever she was at. She moved to Lahnam about 4 years ago with her mother and step father from DC, and still has it in her till this day. " Yo Jameelah you better not lose that temper of yours before you get fired!" Aleeyah joked covering her mouth from laughing the entire time. " Oh trust me honey Imma start a bigger war than hitler did if they decide to let Jameelah go" she assured, waving her hand with too many bracelets to count in the air, pointing her index finger to the sky. Me and Aleeyah both cracked up laughing. " what's so funny guysss?" Samirah budded In with a big smile on her face. "Don't worry about it love bird, you where too busy with your man." Aleeyah said rolling her eyes while pouting with her lips. " Awe man don't be like that now Aleeyah" Aminah said still with the smile on her face. The food came not long after and of course Harim was the first to complain. " I'm sorry but I won't eat this steak" he huffed at a waiter walking by pushing his plate of perfectly good steak to the front. "May I ask what is wrong with it? The waiter said in a concerned tone. "It's burnt" he said not looking up from his plate once. I looked over to his plate only to see a perfectly cooked steak that had almost reached the level of perfection. The waiter paused for a second. " I need another one now, either that or I won't pay. It's that simple" Harim insisted. "Sir it'll take some time for us to prepare another steak an..." "Well looks like you should start now then." Harim butted in. The waiter looked down and quickly left the table. His attitude completely disgusted me and it seemed that I was the only one it took a toll on. Everyone else was laughing, especially Yunus making jokes on the side. " She better take her flat ass back to the damn kitchen and make the best steak a brother ever ate" he ranted. He then looked at me and bit his lip, then started smiling heavily. "Cmon you know that was a funny ass situation" he said to me completely facing my way. He looked at me straight into my eyes and almost looked as if he could take control just like that. For a moment I felt like a deer in the sight of a hungry lion and immediately felt uncomfortable. "I guess, if that's what you call funny" I replied. " I guess I gotta try harder next time then, you seem like a tough one" he smirked still looking at me straight in the eyes. At that moment I knew Yunus was sorta.. Kinda into me. He smiled then ran his fingers through his hair while tensing his muscles (I could tell). He started to speak more but then stopped mid sentence. His tan skin looked almost too perfect and he had a perfect smile. He then looked towards the light above making his green eyes look more... daring, more intense, and at that very moment I thought to myself, Yunus was the most unattractive male I had known. It seemed the light he looked into had a way of shining on his heart as well. And hey, God doesn't like ugliness, so why should I ?
