Fire. It was everywhere and Newt was more afraid of it than he was the vampires. It devoured dozens of tents and the canopy of trees above them. He could cut down a vampire if it tried to take Eve, but there was nothing he could do to stop fire from taking his entire world.

"Come on!" He shouted to the blonde girl right at his heels.

"I'm right behind you, just keep bloody running!" She yelled back, a hint of fear rising in her tone.

Newt suddenly spun around for a split second and grabbed her hand to pull her to his side just as three bloodsuckers ran towards them, and one leaped at Newt, fangs bared. The Slayer shoved his sister behind him then drew his machete from his shoulder and sliced it across the face mercilessly, not even bothering to watch it go down. The next vampire came at him in a similar stance but swung at his chest with a small knife. He dodged it, then elbowed it in the neck before turning and stabbing his own large blade through its stomach and watched it erect out of its back. But without wasting more time he slid out his blade and turned around to the last approaching vamp at just the right moment and extended his arm in a swing and slit its throat.

Not bothering to put his machete away, he turned to Eve, "Let's go!" Then they were both on the run again.

The smoke in the air was starting to become unbearable, filling one's lungs and making them burn. Coughing, gagging, yelling and screaming filled the air more than the smoke did though. It hurt both Newt and Eve to know that they were just running for their own lives when they could hear the shrieks and begs for mercy of the Innocents that had taken refuge in their camp. As they darted between globs of flames and the occasional fallen tree, Newt had to push all fear aside as he could perfectly hear the triumphant hollers and even laughter of the vampires. And he knew it was probably because the Glade was the biggest camp they had found in a long time. And it was all his fault.

The guilt and fear battling each other in the war zone of his mind had gotten him too out of focus. He had just kept on going even as a huge tree came crashing down in front of him in a blaze. The ground reverberated with its fall, as though the earth had shot a canon in its memory. But luckily for him, his sister was still thinking straight and snatched his arm as she pulled him back onto the ground to stop him. He was brought out of his daze at that and stared at the tree as it burned in bright flames that licked at his legs a couple times. Pain soon sparked from it and he swore loudly, scrambling back as he slammed his legs against the grass and patted the small fires out on his pants.

"What the blood hell is wrong with you?! Let's go!!" Eve screamed at him and began getting to her feet again, practically dragging him with her by his arm.

He began to get up when he felt another familiar pair of hands quickly pick him up. When he was on his feet he turned to the person to come face to face with Thomas. His skin has ashes and soot all over it and he was panting just as much as they were, "You good?"

"Yeah, just blood peachy!" Newt replied over the insane amount of sound around them.

Thomas' expression then changed as he looked at his second-in-command, "Newt, this is over we have to get out of here! Everyone has to fend for themselves! We can't win this!"

And Newt knew in his heart that his friend was right. They were done for if they stuck around. If Wicked didn't get them the fire would. So with a heavy, sickening feeling in his stomach he nodded, "I know."

"I'm taking Chuck to the mountains. Stay with us." Thomas then said and looked at Eve, "Stick with me okay?"

The girl nodded quickly, wavy hair bouncing a little as she did so and Thomas' brother, Chuck, went to her side.

Thomas patted Newt's back and began to run as he took off in the direction out of the forest and towards the mountains. Newt watched the two youngest teenagers run after him and he stayed at the back as always because his limp slowed him down.

But not even 6 seconds after they had started to dash, Newt suddenly felt something at his side, heard a hiss, then a horrific pain shot from the back of his head. Due to the surprise, he cried out and went to the ground from his body failing him in effect of the strike. His head felt like it had split open as he blearily tried to get up onto his hands and knees, but felt his hair get grabbed and yank him back up onto just his knees. His machete was torn from his hand and he was beginning to be pulled up by his arms.

Once the ringing in his ears faded a little he could hear two people right beside him and arguing about something he couldn't quite figure out. Then his vision came back into focus and he could see Thomas, Chuck and Eve at least 30 yards away from him. And his heart sank even further somehow at the sight and realization that he had just been captured.

Chuck just stood there, in shock it seemed with wide eyes. But Thomas was beginning to scoop up Eve, who had tears shimmering from her face and fought the tall brunet with everything she had to get to her brother. Her gut wrenching screams swarmed Newt's head as he soon configured that they all consisted of shrill "No!"s and cries of his name at the top of her lungs.

Thomas was far stronger than her and far larger though. He gave Newt one look that showed his reaction and said a million words, though to anyone who didn't know him it would have seemed heartless. It was obvious Thomas felt guilty for doing this, absolutely crushed even. But he was doing what Newt would want. He lifted Eve off of the ground and threw her over his shoulder, then turned and motioned to his brother to follow.

Newt was being forced to his feet even though they weren't working now, and was soon being dragged off as well as his vision and hearing began to fail again. Eve was still calling out to him with all of her might, and extended a hand out to him as though wishing she had telekinesis and could bring him back.

The last thing Newt could muster enough energy to fight back with, or call out to her, was barely a whimper. It formed into her name, then everything went black.

And just like every time this nightmare came back to him, Newt woke himself up, screaming his sister's name.
