Aaliya was sitting in a dark room with just the small table lamp next to the dressing table on. As she finished curling her thick black hair she looked at herself in the big round mirror and smiled.

It had been a week and a half ever since Aarav asked for a divorce. They had never got an opportunity to talk about it again. Moreover, what would have she talked about? As much as she wanted to give their marriage another chance she knew he wanted a divorce desperately and she knew why he wanted it. She still had some sort of hope that Aarav would never leave her and would give them another chance and they could start anew as he still hadn't got the papers ready. She told her heart that he might have forgot about it and wanted to give her a chance but her brain knew that court related documents took some time.

She applied some golden eye shadow and created smokey eyes along nude shade lip stick and sat there on the stool staring at her reflection. Her brain and heart were having a conflict and she wished that her heart won this. Just when she thought she was going to know of who was going to win this battle a voice snapped her out of what she was thinking and brought her back to reality.

"Why are you sitting in the dark? You could have turned the lights on." Aarav said turning on the lights of the room.

"Just didn't feel like turning them on. How come you're back so early?"

"Just got free. By the way, I got the divorce papers ready." He said as he took the papers out of his bag and waved them in front of her.

For a minute she froze at her spot. Just when she thought her heart was going to win this battle, her brain played a trick and took over her heart. She sat on the chair that was next to his as he kept the papers in front of her. She stared at the papers blankly not able to read a word beyond 'divorce'. She bit her inner lower lip as she thought about living her life without him.

"You can take your time. Read them carefully, and sign only when you're satisfied." He said.

"Can I try something for one last time to stop you from doing this? I don't want to curse myself later for not trying this." She said locking her eyes with his.

Aarav didn't know what she was talking about and he didn't know how to react to that. Confused he just slightly nodded his head.

Aaliya held him by his collar as she pulled him close and leaned forward. She caressed his lips with hers, putting all her love in that one kiss just to stop him from going away from her and giving them another chance. Her lips loved every part of his lips but he didn't move an inch or give in to that kiss. She pulled away and looked at him with glassy eyes. Her hands slipped down his chest and went inside the dark grey formal coat he was wearing. She took out a pen from the inside pocket of his coat and signed the first paper.

"Read them at least."

"I trust you Aarav, you wouldn't really turn out to be a fraud. I know you don't love me today and need this divorce desperately but I also know you'd respect my feelings and not put in any conditions that would hurt me. Even if you did, then it's fine. I've lost the most important people already, other things don't really matter. Where else should I sign?" She said as she stared at the papers. She couldn't have looked up at him after that one sided passionate kiss. She did hope somewhere that he'd lose himself to that kiss but he didn't and that hurt her a lot. She believed that deep down he still loved her and all he wanted her to do was make one move, but she had never been this wrong when it came to Aarav.

He showed her the other places where she had to sign and she signed them as quickly as she could. She got up from the chair and took out a black dress from her cupboard and locked herself in the washroom.
