Contradictions
I am impossibly old,
Yet see through the eyes of an infant.
I watch a dancing flame with wonder and awe,
But still it seems to be my greatest fear.
The thing I dream about most, Is also
The reason I am curled into a ball at night.
I have certain thoughts only because i'm so selfish.
I do not act on these thoughts,
Solely because i'm thinking of others.
I fight inside myself, but no one can see.
I am full of contradictions.
We don't know what is right and wrong.
The world is not black and white.
But I know when I close my eyes,
And the fears creep back in,
There will be nothing there to contradict them.
Never settled,
I can never see only one side,
Be only one thing,
Until I can.
