War
At first they stand alone,
But soon they multiply.
One by one they rise up,
Blood red, with glowing eyes.
Each day they grow stronger,
More soldiers for me to fear.
They've broken my defenses,
With only a single spear.
I could run and hide,
But something keeps me here,
Where there is no end,
To the pain I must bear.
As they close in,
On my base, on my heart,
I do not attack them,
I welcome, with open arms.
And now they have killed me.
I lay on the ground.
In a pool of my blood,
I don't make a sound.
I know in the end,
That i'm only to blame,
For with a knife in my hand,
I snuffed out my own flame.
