Chapter 1: Hot, Hot Coffee!

"Ciara Dean, if you do not get home right now, you will find yourself grounded for the next 2 years!" my mom shouted, from the other end of the phone.

"Fine. What's the big emergency anyway?" I replied.

"Your father is having an important dinner tonight and you need to look presentable. They have a kid your age who will be starting at Marine Side with you. Oh and the dinner sarts in 2 hours! So if you are not home in 20 minutes-"

"Got it, bye!" I hung up quickly, not bothering to hear the rest of my mother's rant. Marine Side was an academy that I will be starting at in a few days. I started to head home, when I noticed a starbucks across the road, literally calling me over! Ehh, what the heck? I have about 3 days of summer vacation left, so I might as well make them worthwhile. I crossed the road and walked in.

I ordered my coffee, and waited for the barista to make it. The lady, Annabelle her name-tag said, handed me my drink. I smiled and made my way out. I was happily sipping on my coffee, when I almost slapped myself, as I realised I was going the wrong way. I quickly spun around, immediately regretting my moves.

I crashed into the man behind me, causing my (might I add hot) coffee to spill all over me!

"Jesus Christ dude!" I yelled in annoyance.

"If I remember correctly, YOU crashed into ME!" he smirked arrogantly.

"Why were you walking so close behind me?" I interrogted.

"I was trying to get past you. Sorry," he shrugged and walked away. I quickly tossed my now, unfortunately, empty cup into a nearby trash can and grabbed the boy's shirt.

"Jeez, I said sorry! What else do you want?

"I wanted to do this," I slapped his cheek, HARD, and walked away, smiling to myself. I checked my watch, and started panicking when I realised I have 5 minutes to get home. Sugar. I took a deep breath in, and started sprinting all the way home.

I ran through the front door and finally halted to a stop. Hands on my knees, I was panting like mad - I honestley thought I was going to collapse!

"I see you got home on time!" Mom said, ever so innocently, "Now go get ready!"

I scowled at my mother before heaving myself up the stairs. I always hate these dinners because my parents expect me to look presentable and actually be polite. In other words, I have to wear a dress and put a pinky up whilst drinking. I open my closet and walked in (my parents are well-off go figure). I found a pretty pink strapless dress with jewels embedded on the top.

Just as I finished applying light eye make-up, the doorbell rang. Sugar, I haven't done my hair yet. I decided to just brush through my wavy hair and leave it down.

I walked downstairs, where my father was introducing everyone.

"Oh Ciara, good, you're here. This is Paul and Maria. Paul's brother is the principal at Marine Side Academy. Both Maria and Paul work at the I.E.S with me. This is my daughter Ciara, and this is their daughter Abbie," I waved at Abbie, giving her a sweet smile.
"Hey," she greeted.
"Hello," I said, in a posh British accent.
"And how are you today?"
"Just the same as always," she replied, in a French accent.
"Oh and don't forget to put your pinky up," I said, pulling her pinky up.

We both laughed and walked into the dining room.

"So do you know what room you're gonna be in?" I asked.
"Uh huh, my Uncle said me, you and some guy called Jason or something are going to have the best room at school,"
"Awesome," I said, giving Abbie a high-five.
