Hey guys! An update! -cricket noises-
In this section, Len mentions that he has glasses. I know he doesn't canonically have them, but I think he'd be adorable with a pair!
Enjoy! -Starlightsmiles
Len's shoulders shook mercilessly as he clenched the heavy box. "Dad! Help me!" He called, then let out a final heave and his weak muscles gave in. The box dropped to the ground with a thud and the cluttered contents spilled out.
"Dammit!" Len scoffed. He slowly picked up each item and placed it gently back in. "Dad!" the boy shouted stronger this time, his hands cupped against his face. Where on earth is he? Len thought while rolling his eyes. I wanna get out of here.
Len's father rushed into the dorm. "Sorry, taking those boxes to the car took longer than expected. The parking lot was jammed with teens who must of failed their driver's test five times."
"Fantastic," Len groaned, pointing to the last filled box. As his father took away the box, Len felt a quiver against his leg. He reached into his pants pocket and squinted at the phone screen. Did I really misplace my glasses? God! Not again. He tapped the "new message from Kaito Shion" notification burning in the center of the screen.
Moving out takes forever! Remember to meet me near the fountain. Love you (^▽^)
Len sighed and smiled in a puerile manner as he tapped on the keyboard to reply.
of course. see you soon.
He dipped his phone back into his pocket and rushed after his dad.
It had only been a year since Len matriculated at N.Y.A.A. However, summer had begun and classes were let out. All the students had to clean up their dorms, because almost everyone would switch wings. Once summer was over, Len would move into the sophomore wing.
But for now, Len was moving all of his possessions back home. He exited the building and entered the outdoor campus, where students bustled around. The early June sun reached through the fluffy clouds, and the beautifully mild weather hit Len like a pleasant wind.
"Hey Dad, I have to say goodbye to some friends before I leave. It'll only be like 15 minutes." Len told his father and thumbed at the campuses' fountain where Kaito and Yuuma stood. He waved eagerly at them.
"Alright. Rin and I will be in the car. Hurry." he said abruptly, and whisked the box and himself away into the depths of the parking lot. He looked back and hollered, "'Text me when you're done and I'll pull the car up into the drop-off zone."
Len nodded. He sprinted over to the fountain where some other students gathered as well as his boyfriend and room mate.
"Hey guys," Len casually slipped in between Kaito and Yuuma.
"Lenny!" Kaito ruffled Len's thick blonde hair. "I thought you'd never show."
"Sorry," he shrugged his shoulders. "What did you have to tell me?"
"Over the summer, I want to keep in touch with you," Of course you will, Len thought undoubtedly. "But I know how your parents feel about me, after Rin told them...and I'm eighteen, you know...it's risky." Kaito finished off his sentence with a sigh.
Len bit his lip. It was true. If Len was going to see Kaito this summer, he'd have to come up with an ingenious plan. Somehow.
Although Len was now 15, he still didn't have much independence. He'd kept Kaito a secret from Rin and the rest of his family members for some time. They sat separated at lunch, didn't study at the library together, and only met outside of campus. Although Len craved a closer-wound relationship, he also wanted to keep Kaito no matter what. And that meant secluding Kaito away from Len's family.
"Well, I can sneak out. I've never done it before, but that's what I planned to do." Len pondered.
Yuuma stared longingly out into the parking lot, then spoke firmly. "You know that Kaito lives two hours away from you, right? You're dealing with a long-distance relationship here."
"I know, I'm not stupid. Kaito can drive. He can-"
"Len, if your parents found out, charges would definitely be pressed against me. I meant keeping in touch over the phone. Sorry Lenny, I just can't take my chances right now." The disappointment in Kaito's voice was thick.
"No! I can't spend all summer without you!" Len balled up his fists and pouted like a child. "We'll make it happen!! And that means...screw summer,I...I'll never see you again!"
"Lenny, Lenny, Lenny! You'll see me again, I swear." Kaito enclosed his boyfriend into a firm hug.
"How? You're going to college! I'm only a sophomore!" Len whined, writhing out of Kaito's grasp.
"You'll see me again, I swear. Don't get upset." Kaito leaned over and placed a kiss on Len's forehead. Tears were forming in Len's slanted blue eyes. No, no! I can't believe this. He won't ever be able to drive to my house and I'll never be able to see him!
Nothing hurt more. Len wiped his eyes and gave Kaito one last hug before rushing pulling out his phone and texting his dad-Okay. Come pick me up.
