So close, yet so far...

The black horse neighed as the girl brushed his mane. She hummed a song as she did, like always. Her brown and green dress was dirty along the bottom, but it was hidden by her red cloak.

"Red, time to come in! It's getting dark!" a voice rang from the cabin in the distance.

"Yes, Granny! I just have to finish this quickly!" the girl yelled back, setting down the brush on a shelf. "There you go, Boltrin." she whispered to the horse. "See you tomorrow."

Red left the barn, heading toward the cabin. The sun had started to set through the trees of the woods, showing shades of pinks and purples through the sky.

Once she arrived at the cabin, Red asked "Granny, what about tomorrow?"

"We'll see if we can." She replied. "Now, let's get sleep."

They bolted the doors, shut the windows, and went to bed.
