[Company]

Fog had lowered onto Montreal, giving the midnight streets a more menacing appearance. Mitch gulped as he walked along the curb, his heavy hoodie weighing him down almost as much as his mood was.

A crescent moon was faint in the sky and dim stars were scattered overhead. It would've probably been perfect for stargazing, but the cloud layer prohibited any telescopes - let alone naked eyes - from getting a good view.

Mitch never really looked up and wondered about his place in the stars, he usually stuck to looking down and worrying about his place in the dirt. And he didn't show any interest in questioning his significance until he was walking through a mud puddle, soiling his new shoes.

He let out a sigh, tilting his head back and staring - well, more like glaring - At the clouds above.

"Fuck you." He didn't know exactly who he was talking to. He just had to get something out, raw emotions; anger, confusion.

Then it started to rain.

Not pouring, but the lightest sprinkle. He scoffed at the thickening clouds, shaking his head and continuing on his way home at a faster pace.

He needed to get out of there. But he couldn't. Because he wouldn't be returning to anyone, he just received news of Tyler's arrival Chicago. He'd walk back into the apartment to be greeted with silence. He would sluggishly walk into the kitchen, open the pantry, pull out the cereal, and eat his feelings.

"Hey," A high-pitched voice called from behind him. "Mitch!"

Mitch walked faster, his dirtied shoes splashing in the forming water puddles on the sidewalk.

"Miiiitch!" She caught up to him, grabbing onto his shoulder and turning him around, "Hey." She repeated.

"Hi." He said, his tone clipped as he looked away from her and resumed his speed-walk home.

"I'm sorry about the other night!" She walked beside him again, looking to him with sincerity.

Mitch sighed, tucking his hands into his jean pockets, "D-Don't be. . ." He shrugged slowly, "I embarrassed you." And he embarrassed himself, too. Acting like a dick to people - especially girls - who didn't deserve it was never his intention. Sometimes it just, happened.

"I'm okay, I shouldn't have pressured you."

He agreed with her on that. She shouldn't have.

For a split second he wondered what Tyler would've thought about Shelby straddling him in an abandoned church, viciously making out with him against his will. Would he be jealous?

Then he realized what he was thinking, and shook off the thought completely, directing his attention to Shelby, who had been yammering on and on about all of her so called 'sins'.
