= Prologue =
"It would be so cool to go backpacking in Europe. Jacob and I have always wanted to see all the cool shit that's over there."
I set aside another mediocre poem, not really listening to Mallory as she goes on beside me. Over the years, I've gotten good at blocking out her lofty tangents.
"Yeah, Mal." I only say this to sound like I'm paying attention.
"I hear Ireland's beautiful this time of year..."
Mallory keeps talking about fields and hostels and other things I have no interest in, oblivious to the fact that I've tuned her out completely.
I love Mallory, but sometimes I wish she wasn't the editor-in-chief of the paper.
