Shattering Glass

*Brendan’s POV*

As I made my way back to my car, I kept thinking about Isabelle’s face when she found out that I had organized all of this. ‘It’s your fault that our baby sister was crying…’ my wolf growled at me, causing me to scowl in turn. ‘She lied about being my best friends mate! She deserved what she got.’ I growled back. He just ignored me, but I could tell that he still wasn’t happy with what happened.

Which was weird, that part of me has never acted so protective over Isabelle in a very long time. Not since she became… Well, not since people started treating her like she was a freak. I love Isabelle, I honestly do.

But I couldn’t go against my pack, especially not when I’m the new Beta. I just can’t afford to have the pack hate me too. I mean, they wouldn’t respect me as Beta if I would’ve stood up for her. Plus, we all knew about her mad crush on Chase. The reasons for her to lie were all there, it all made sense. There was no way Chase could be her mate, he would’ve told me. That’s the kind of relationship we have.

Yeah, I decided, she really was lying. They aren’t mates…but then why do I feel so guilty?

I shrugged the feeling off, preparing myself to face Isabelle once I got to the house. I got into my car and turned the radio, hoping that the music would distract my mind from the internal battle going on. Why is it so hard to accept that she was lying? The Way She Feels by Between The Trees came on.

I groaned and changed the station. Another sad song came on, after a few more failed attempts, I finally decided to turn the stupid thing off and just drive home.

As I parked in the driveway my phone vibrated, notifying me of a new text. I pulled it out of my pocket and, as I walked towards the front door, opened up the message. It was from Vanessa, one of Sierra’s clones. I groaned inwardly, I was getting tired of how they just kept throwing themselves on me and Chase.

‘Been on fb recently?’ her text read. My eyebrows knitted together in confusion, as I unlocked my front door I responded to her text saying no.

‘Gonna get a big surprise when you do. Don’t worry, you r gonna like it just as much as us’ she sent back.

With that, I quickly logged into my account and saw that I had one new notification. It’s a status update from Isabelle, I thought. That’s odd…she closed down her account a long time ago, for some reason.

As I read it, my heart shattered like glass. She left. No, she couldn’t have.

“Isabelle?” I called. No answer. I walked out into the living room, she wasn’t there. She usually sits on the couch in the corner and reads. Her room, I decided. She probably just has her headphones on.

I ran to her room, sniffing the air for a trace of her sent. ‘She was here, I can smell it. But…its weak…’ my wolf told me.

I knocked on her door. “Isabelle? Are you in there?” I asked. “Isabelle…please. Open the door.” I demanded.

Still nothing. I started banging on the door. “Isabelle!” I yelled out one last time.

I rushed down to her bathroom and got some of her bobby pins before going back and trying to unlock the door. I had my ear pressed up against the door until I heard the lock click open. Yes!

I closed my eyes and mentally prepared myself for the worst. What if I find her lying on the floor dead? I wondered. But I mentally shook the thought away and, with a deep breath, pushed the door open and found…

Nothing.

She wasn’t in her bed or lying on the floor bleeding. I let out a breath that I hadn’t realized I was holding. If she isn’t here…then where else could she be? It’s not like she has friends to go to…

Ya'll probably hate me for taking so long....sorry. But I've been so occupied lately. BUT! Summer is almost here! *happy dance*

Anyways, I tried doing a more "Wattpady" kinda writing style. Let me know if I totally sucked at it and you prefer the other way or if you like it!

Btw, what are ya'lls thoughts on Brendan so far?
