Through the camera lens

Castiel's POV
It was a cold autumn day in the middle of October and I was seated at the large tree out in the front school yard with my camera gripped tightly between my gloved hands as usual. The school yard was quiet. I would always come early so I could take pictures. It was always beautiful at this time of day. Especially with the trees beginning to bare. I loved capturing how the tree limbs looked against the sky. And sometimes, if I was lucky, I would take the shot just in time to catch a falling leaf or two.

Today was just like any other normal day. That was up until I heard the grumble of a car engine. I was confused. Most teachers were here by now and the students didn't start coming for at least another half hour. That's when an old, yet still shiny, black car pulled into the high school parking lot. Obviously inspired by the beauty of the car I pulled my camera to my face. I took multiple shots of the car until the driver's door opened. I zoomed in, ready to see who stepped out, but I was not ready for what I did see. A boy, who seemed around my age, stepped out. But this boy I had never seen before.

Deciding to get a better look, I zoomed in closer. The boy had blonde hair spiked into a slight quiff, bright green eyes an freckles littering his nose. (A/N I'm not sure if Dylan has freckles or not but he's supposed to be Dean so) I took a few pictures then watched as he joined someone on the other side. The other boy looked around 12 with hair that came down to his ears and bangs. The older boy wrapped an arm around who I assumed was his younger brother. I snapped a few more pictures and somehow managed to get one of the older boy smiling down at the younger boy as the younger was looking up at him.

I smiled at the picture before noticing the two walking in my direction. I quickly hid behind the tree and watched as they journeyed across the grassy area toward the middle school.

"Oh come on Sammy," the taller boy said, "it won't be that bad."

"Yeah, whatever you say Dean," the younger boy, Sammy, retorted. Dean ... the name fit him.

"C'Mom Sammy! How about you have the best day you can and if you make a friend, we'll go get ice cream," Dean smiled at him.

"And if I don't?" Sam asked, moodily.

"Then we'll get three scoops and go to the park," Dean laughed.

"Ya know," Sam started, "the latter is beginning to sound like a better deal."

"Let's go," Dean laughed before they proceeded into the middle school. I smiled. It's not all that often that we get new students, especially not in the high school.

"Dean ..." my voice was quiet and oddly raspy. I new it was like this because I haven't spoken since dinner the previous night.

Students started to arrive and I decided right now would be a good time to enter the school building. I stood from my seated position,fixing by backpack on my shoulder, and began to walk toward the school when I heard my name being called.

"Cassie!" I turned toward the cause of the noise to see none other than my brother, Gabriel.

"What do you want Gabe?" I asked him.

"Dude where were you this morning!?" he yelled, "you weren't even there when I woke up!" for some reason he then proceeded to yawn stretching out his tattoo clad arms and revealing a bit if his ink stained torso. Need less to say my brother is what some would call a "punk". He was covered (almost literally) from head to toe in random tattoos, and he was only he was 15.

"I wanted to get here early maybe take some pictures," I answered pointing to my camera.

"Sweet did you get any good ones?" he asked, genuinely interested.

"Yeah actually," I skipped then looked through the ones I had taken before showing him my favorite picture of Dean's car.

"Who-" He started to speak but was cut off by a loud British accent

"Ya know Gabe, you're supposed to wait until the car is stopped to get out," my older brother, Balthazar, spoke. Balthazar is basically your stereotypical hipster. He always seemed to be wearing a pair of ripped blue jeans, a solid colored baggy shirt a dark beanie, and some from of plaid flannel around his waist. He avoids using "popular" slang at all costs and listens to mostly indie or rock music. He also sported a British accent because he had spent a most of his childhood in England with our Father before he moved back here with Gabe, Lucifer, and I.

"Yeah but where's the fun in that!?" Gabe laughed, "plus I had to see if our little Cassie was okay," they both shifted their gazes in my direction.

"Oh honey you look like you got dressed in the dark! Let me fix you," Balth exclaimed. He began to fix my hair, then he straightened my tie, and then he fixed my jacket before smiling at me, "there," he spoke fondly.

"We should probably get inside before we are late for class," i spoke, though I was still thinking about Dean. I had not seen him come back over so I was not sure if he had even left the middle school.

"Awe little Cassie, always looking out for us, " Gabe laughed.

"I am older than you," I corrected.

"Yes but you're much smaller," he stated making a pinching motion with his fingers. Balth laughed before speaking.

"But he's right, we should probably get going," he spoke before walking in the direction of the school. I followed along but I couldn't help but wonder if I would see Dean again that day.
