The fire of the burning house glistened in my eye. The screams of the people inside there, rung through my ears.

I gripped onto my fathers jacket and buried my face into it. It smelled of smoke, and sweat. i kept my face there to keep my eyes from witnessing the terrible sight. My father pulled me closer to him.

One woman ran out of the house screaming. I looked up to see what was going on, but my face was soon being pushed back into my dad's jacket.

I hissed as the cold wind slapped me across the face. My dad picked me up and held onto me as we ran over into a white man, talking to what it seems to be a white firefighter.

"Do you know if Reigndrop Lopes is in there?" My sister hadn't come home today from this house. I shivered in fear. I was praying inside that my sister wasn't one of the bodies that had been found dead.

The man picked up a clipboard on the side of the fire truck and looked through all the names. I stood on my tippy toes to examine it and saw that the page was labeled, 'Dead.'

I sighed as he flipped the page to 'In Critical Condition.' He stopped at a place in the middle of the page.

"Shes being hospitalized right now. She is in very critical condition." My father put me on his back, gripped my hands, and ran. He kept running and running .

It seemed like he had been running for forever until he came to a stop at the hospital.

My father kicked the doors open. All eyes were on him. We ran to the front desk and suddenly saw Reign being pushed on a stretcher. My dad quickly ran to the nurse hi was pushing.

"Sir, you can't be here at this time." My dad's face wasn't its usual brown caramel. His face was blue. Like he was dying. And to this day, I believe he was.

"That's my daughter." The nurse nodded her head and thy pushed Reign's stretcher into a room.

The nurses and doctors worked on her while me and my dad stood outside of the door:

I believed they did 16 surgeries and she had to be sent to the Philadelphia Burn Center.

I remember coming everyone coming out of the room saying it was safe to go in.

My dad sat next to her bed with his head in his hands crying.

I stared at Reigndrop and the burns on her chest that showed through her gown. I looked at the burns on her arms.

"I'm sorry this had to happen to you Reign. I'm so sorry. It should've been me." I hung my head low.

Everything in me was fighting the tears that threatened to fall. I'm too strong to cry, too tough.

I'm 13 years old, and my mom died when I was 6 years old.

She was a junkie, but she loved us and treated is with care and love.

Since then it's just been me, my dad and Reign,

I just, I can't lose another person in my life again.

Reign is the only friend I have.

She is my rock, my sister, my best friend and even though she's younger than me, she's like another mother.

I held onto her hand and bit on my lip to keep tears from falling.

The heart monitor thingy began to go slower and slower. I tapped my dad and he quickly went to go get a nurse.

My heart drop with how slower it got.

"Don't die on me Reigndrop please! Don't die on me."

My heart skipped a thousand beats when the heart monitor went flat.

  "Reign drop no!"
