{ Chapter 1 }

"I've already told you, I don't want to do that and I am not going to do that." I screamed in frustration. This couldn't be happening. I didn't ask for any of this.

"I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do about it. The Elder's think we need a suitable man for Alpha because you haven't found your mate yet."

My parents had explained this to me already. I knew I had to step up, but by now I thought I would've found my mate not someone come in and pick him for me. The fact that the guy they picked for me was a total jerk made it all the more worse. He's extremely rude and thoughtless, and the Elder's can't see through his nasty façade.

"Can't I have more time?" I pleaded with her. I'd do anything if it meant not being mated to him. Let alone married.

"It's your senior year. You only have just five months until you graduate and they're getting rather impatient."

"Then just tell them to give me till then." I pleaded with her.

"We'll see." My father had finally spoke I had completely forgotten he'd been in here. He'd been completely silent since they'd stepped into my room. Anything that had to do with my mating he'd be completely silent on the subject. I wasn't ever sure if he felt guilty about it or if he was mad at me. Before I knew it he walked out of the room without another word or glance in my direction.

"I'm sorry." My mom told me softly before she got up and followed my dad out.

This sucked. I hated Xavier more than anything.

He was the soon to be Alpha of the neighboring pack. His mate had died a week after they met and I was arranged to get married to him. I hated my life right now.

I know what your thinking isn't it supposed to be my brother stepping up to be Alpha? Well you're right. My dad, much like Henry VIII, couldn't have any sons. I don't even understand what's wrong with him. I'm not good with big words or anything scientific for that matter. So since he can't have any sons my mate would be the packs future Alpha, but you already knew that.

Well anyways I'm Rebecca Richards. I'm a senior and I'm supposed to be the Luna of the pack and my mate being the Alpha, but I haven't found him yet.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when Lily walked into my room. She'd been my best friend since we were in diapers. We'd stick together through everything.

From the womb till the tomb.

"So what did they say?" I gave her a flat look. I knew she was listening in on the conversation. She shrugged giving me an innocent look, "What?"

"I know you heard everything. I'm not stupid."

"Your words not mine." She shot back at me grinning. "How do you plan on finding this mate of yours? Clearly he's not in this pack."

"I have no idea and it's not like my parents are going to let me scour the country in search of him. For all I know he could be in another continent." I had no clue as to how I should start look for him. Boys have never been much of a focus in my life, but now since it's 'if you can't find your mate you'll mate with Xavier' and since I'd rather die than let that happen finding him was all I could think about.

"That won't happen you're soul mates so of course you'll cross paths." She said trying to reassure me. "Maybe you'll meet him tomorrow."

"Or maybe when I meet him it'll be too late." It would be just my luck to find him the day after my deadline. That'll probably happen.

"It's going to be alright." Lily told me hushing me. "You will find him. I promise."

******************************

It was my first day back after the winter holiday. I hadn't thought about the whole mate's thing since I talked to Lily, but then last night when my parents said there were some new wolves coming in. The possibility that he could be one of them had me jittery all morning.

As soon as I arrived at school I went straight to my locker, grabbing my books for my first lesson. When I turned around I saw people crowding around what seemed to be two guys neck and neck. I moved closer to the crowd pushing my way to the front to see who the two idiots were. As I tried to push myself to the front some people wouldn't let me through, but others did realizing who I was. When I had finally managed to make my way to the front I saw that it was Xavier and-

Holy crap.

He looked new. He had that unruly messy, chocolate, brown hair with matching eyes. His skin was slightly tanned like honey. He looked about 6'2. His frame seemed to appear rather small, but could still make any girl swoon.

My wolf kept screaming at me 'Mate'!

I inhaled to get a whiff of his scent. His scent was musky, he smelt of apples and cinnamon. Although, another scent came from him and it hit me quite hard. An inaudible gasp escaped my mouth.

He was a human.

A/N: so here's the first chapter. Let me know what you think.
