{ Chapter 3 }

School had been a drag all morning. I hadn't seen Tyler at all since last night. The next morning my parents told me they had heard me come in later than usual.

"I just wanted to think and lost track of time." I blocked off my thoughts, so they couldn't hear what I was really thinking. I did that all of yesterday since I had found out about him.

All throughout the morning I had been looking for Tyler. When I'd found him he was seated in the front of the room of my English class.

He smiled at me and pulled out the seat next to him. I was about to walk up to him when someone called my name.

"Rebecca...come here." Looking up I saw it was, Caitlyn, someone from my pack. She was a good friend of mine, not as good as Anna though. I knew if I sat next to Tyler she would question it and if I did I could get to know him better. The dumb half of me seemed to have won over.

I mouthed a 'sorry' to Tyler as I made my way to Caitlyn. He looked upset at my choice, I felt really bad.

"What was that all about?" She asked me motioning to Tyler. "Since when did you start talking to the humans?" Caitlyn growled.

'Since I found out one of them was my mate.' I thought but I couldn't say that. "He was in one of my other classes. He was new and sat next to me, so we started talking." Most of that was the truth. All except the part where we started talking. I was too scared to do or say anything to him before last night.

She didn't say anything on the subject again for the rest of the period. I was glad she ignored it, I really didn't want to explain anything at this point.

The rest of the class period had passed by fairly quickly and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I saw Tyler walk out of the class, so I quickened my pace to catch up with him. I could hear Caitlyn calling my name out loud and through the mind link.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I'd really like to make it up to you." I told him as we fell into step together

"Well Rebecca todays you're lucky day I'm usually not so easily forgiving." He said slinging his arm around my shoulder and pulling me to his side. I felt the sensations of his touch run through my body which caused me to shiver. It all seemed to have gone unnoticed by Tyler. "Why don't you come sit with me during lunch? I'm sure your friends won't mind if I steal you away for some time."

I nodded. I wasn't exactly thinking when I answered. My answer dawned on me as we walked to his table. The cafeteria was full of loud whispers as they all watched us.

"What is she doing?"

"I thought people like her never came to this side."

"I'm surprised she's talking to one of us."

I could hear the whispers of people. As well as the onslaught of questions from my pack.

'What the hell are you doing?'

'Why are you talking to a human?'

'When did you start getting so friendly with a human?'

I ignored all their thoughts about my actions. I just put my wall up blocking all of them out. There was still an excessive pounding from my head, from all of them trying to get in.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Tyler asked whispering in my ear. "Because everyone seems to be staring. It's like they've never seen a person before."

In our school, mainly the cafeteria, it was practically segregation. Instead of blacks on one side and whites on the other; it was wolves on one side and humans on the other. It wasn't that we hated the humans, some of us did, we just wanted to be completely kept to ourselves. Most of us feared if we befriended a human there would be more of a chance they'd find out about us. Every now and then I'd talk to one of them, but we weren't connected at the hip.

It was mainly the guys from Xavier's pack that scared off all the humans. They all had the idea that they were better than everyone.

"I'm fine, but I think my friends really want me to sit with them so why don't you come and sit with me there." I asked looking up at him. I saw his gaze sweep around my half of the cafeteria before his eyes locked back with me.

"Lead the way."

Smiling up at him I grabbed Tyler's arm and pulled him along. That's when the whispers on the human side deceased, but all I got were glares from the wolves.

We both sat down and we could feel all the glances from everyone at the table. No one had said anything yet, but I could feel them trying to get through my wall. I looked at them and gave them all a smile as if everything was alright. I had sat down at a round table that consisted of Lily, her mate Alex which was the Beta's son of our pack, Xavier, and the next in line Beta from his pack, Jason, and Caitlyn.

"I'm Lily." All eyes shot over to her. We had all been silent. Tyler had sat down right next to her. Thank goodness for that or else I don't know what would've happened to him. I mouthed a 'thank you' to her.

"What is he doing here?" Xavier growled out. His eyes were dead set on Tyler. He looked ready to kill which made my wolf feel on edge. I looked to Tyler to see his expression mirroring Xavier's.

'Leave him alone he didn't do anything.' I hissed at Xavier.

I had put down my wall but only allowed two people in. Lily and Xavier.

'He's invaded our area. An area where no human has ever dared crossing.'

'You're being over dramatic.' Lily suddenly joined in. 'Leave him alone. He's not that bad.'

"Are you okay?" Tyler whispered from next to me. A look of concern spread across his face.

After that the table went silent with all of us eating our lunch in silence. Every now and again I'd notice either Caitlyn, Xavier, or Jason sending him a glare.

*********

After school, Lily and I had headed over to my house. We had spent a good couple of hours doing our homework before we were extensively bored.

"Any thought as to what your going to do about Tyler?" Lily asked from the other side of my room.

"I don't know, b-" I was abruptly cut off when Xavier came barging into my room.

"What the heck was that today? How could you invite someone like him to our side, when you know he's one of them."

"First of all why do you care? Secondly it's only you and your pack that actually don't like them." I fired back at him. "There's nothing wrong with him he's just the new kid, so it's no big deal. I also have other classes with him and we started to talk, so I thought I'd help him around."

"Are you really just going to let him in like that? What are you going to do when he starts questioning you about things?" He had a point there, but he didn't know Tyler and I are mates.

"I don't know yet, but I do know it won't get that far." I lied. "And It really shouldn't matter to you, I'm not your mate."

"Just forget it." He said before he stormed out of my room.

I felt a pang of guilt. That was a low blow.

"So...now what? Xavier has already started to question why you're with him and slowly other people will as well." Lily said from the corner of my room.

"I have no idea." I fell back on my bed confused with all things that had to do with Tyler. Did he like me? The intelligent part of my brain said it was too soon to tell. "I'll just let it go at whatever pace and whatever happens by my deadline happens."

A/N: well here it is. I didn't really proof read it if it still says Anna anywhere I'm sorry.

So how are people liking the story?? I've gotten 50 reads and I'm excited about that!!
