{ Chapter 2 }
The first half of my morning went by in a blur. I'd been thinking about him all morning. He never left my mind. I hated that I didn't know what his name was.
I always dreamed of finding my mate, I just never thought he'd be human. It makes it worse because he has to step up as Alpha. He knows nothing about our world. I plan on not telling anyone, more specifically my parents and the elders, about him until I'm sure.
"Rebecca. Becca. Becca!" I heard someone yelling my name.
"Hmm, what?" I asked dazed and confused.
"It's your turn." Lily told me.
We were in the lunch line. I didn't even remember coming here. "Are you gonna buy your food?" I heard Lily ask me.
Suddenly I wasn't even hungry. "I'm not hungry anymore." I mumbled to myself.
Turning around I walked to the opposite end of the cafeteria. That's when I saw him.
He was surrounded by several of the human girls. They were all really close to him. A little too close for my liking. Their hands were all over him as well. All I want was to attack them. But I couldn't, so I clenched my fists as a low growl came out.
Feeling the presence of someone next to me I stopped.
"Who are you staring at?" Lily asked, but then followed my eyes knowing I wouldn't speak. "He's hot. I'd love to spend some time in the sheets with him." She said with a dirty grin on her face.
I whipped my head to the side wanting to rip off her head for saying that. He was mine. Another low growl ripped through my lips.
"I knew it!" She was grinning from ear to ear. I'm so confused. "So your mate is a human...interesting."
"H-how...?" I was rather shocked. She's generally the slow one.
"I'm your best friend. Plus you got really possessive when I said he was hot." Lily told me giving me a 'duh' look. "It was like you wanted to kill me."
Looking up I saw him watching me. And my eyes got as big as saucers. He smirked at me when he noticed me looking at him. I wanted to jump him. That smile, brought too many impure thoughts to my brain. I felt my face go red a bit.
I probably just embarrassed myself.
Looking away I realized Lily left me and was already at our table. Everybody greeted me as I sat down. Although as I sat down Xavier came and sat down next to me. Just my luck.
I tried ignoring him. I looked all over the cafeteria for something to catch my eye. I saw him at a table with a bunch of the jocks. I felt like I was about to explode when I saw one of the girls from earlier sitting on his lap.
I closed my eyes and clenched my fists.
Don't get mad.
I told myself.
"What's wrong?" Xavier asked me with a look if concern on his face.
"Nothing."
Like he cared. Xavier took my face in his hands and forced to look at him. "You know you can tell me anything."
What? Since when did he care about other people?
Suddenly and idea came to mind. "Who's that guy you were about to fight with this morning?"
"Tyler Ruiz." He growled out.
******************************
It was late at night and I went out for my usual run through the woods. I really needed to clear my head after today's events. My mom had also kept chastising me about the whole mate ordeal. Although she did say that the Elders would give me four months to find him, so that gave me until the end of April. It wasn't much but it was better than nothing. The rest of my day had passed by with nothing but thoughts of Tyler. All day I had wanted to talk to him, but I didn't want people to start questioning things just yet. I had figured out I also had my last two classes with him and no one from mine, or Xavier's, pack was there. I couldn't have been happier.
