We walked with Alice's mom back to a car and we all piled into it. She drove us an hour away from my house, she parked the car on the side of the road and said, "alright everyone out, we are here."
"Oh," was all I said. "Here" was a densely wooded area with scary trees. I turned around and saw the others had a similar reaction. Dylan was gapping at it, Ryan frowned, Aiden smiled and put her hands on her hips...guess that's not really similar but oh well, and Alice stepped back, frowning at the weird forest.
"Are you sure we are here? You know where we are supposed to be?" Alice asked nervously.
"Yes this is where we are supposed to be, awaken for your master!" Her mother shouted and the trees moved to the side making a path, "right this way children, watch your step." I turned to Aiden with a confused look and she just shrugged and followed the sorceress down the path. I followed Aiden while glancing around at the strange trees which appeared to have faces, they bowed as the sorceress, Alice, Aiden, and I all walk the path.
"What are they?" I asked the sorceress who turned and smiled at me.
"So you finally figured it out," she said stoping at a tree and raised her hands to it and spoke in Latin "appareant in conspectu vestro!" I knew what it said, appear before your master, yet how did I know that? A person came forward and the tree disappeared, he looked very confused as he glanced around.
"Master!" He yelled and bowed before the sorceress.
"Rise my friend, how many times do I have to tell you don't have to call me that," she said laughing gently, it wasn't a scary creepy laugh of a witch but a gentle motherly laugh.
"Sorry ma- sorry my friend," he said grinning and she returned the grin.
"This is a good friend of mine who said he wanted to protect this ground for me since I saved his life, he gathered some friends and they all were turned to trees, scary trees, they have done their job very well. No one has disturbed this area correct?" She asked the man who nodded losing the friendly smile.
"That is correct, mistress. No one not even an animal has entered the restricted area," he said taking on a guard's attitude.
"Perfect, follow me now," she said to us then hugged the man before he turned back into a tree. She led us deeper and instead of a creepy forest it was a peaceful forest with bright green trees and endless amounts of friendly creatures.
"How does this look so innocent but back there it was a creepy?" Dylan asked tilting his head.
"Magic," she said simply smiling at the confused beta.
"So are we almost there?" Ryan spoke up.
"Yes, we are nearly there," Alice said quietly.
"Very good my daughter!" The sorceress exclaimed in excitement.
"Thank you mother, it was simple magic really I just sensed the aura of the training area, it's very strong so I just searched with my senses until I found it," Alice replied embarrassed.
"You do know that seeing auras in a very rare gift, some have worked so hard just to get a feel for the magic," she said surprised.
"Do you have that magic?" Alice asked.
"Alison I have never been able to summon that magic," she replied and the rest of the trip was silent. I looked forward again and saw a bright clearing of magic particles floating everywhere. One flew up to me and it looked at me, it looked like a little me almost. It blinked then grinned guiding me toward the center, it took my finger and changed into a full blown vampire with wings.
"What is this?" I asked and the sorceress laughed before replying.
"It's your own guide for your powers, it's all the vampires who came before you put into a small fairy. I created it, I thought it would better than trying to train you all individually when I don't have half of your powers," she said gilding over to her daughter before assisting her with learning crazy Latin saying I didn't even bother translating. I turned to the vampire and it spoke calmly in a timeless voice.
"Roselyn Fox, you have unlocked many powers. You do not possess the experience to use all of them however. We are here to teach you everything you don't know how to use," the vampire said with a bright smile.
"Ok, so what do I do?" I asked and she walked around me in circles.
"Turn into your true form," she ordered and I obeyed silently, well almost silently. I frowned as I tried to and I concentrated as much as I could with no result except disappointment.
"I can't," I said simply with frustration.
"Yes you can Roselyn, how did you do it before?" She asked and I thought for a couple of minutes before coming to an answer.
"I turned when I detected Alice lying after it was revealed that my father was responsible for deaths and was evil, then also when I had to fight the vampire I created," I said quietly as I spoke the last few words.
"So when you needed to discover your true self, correct?" The vampire asked quietly as if she knew how hard it was to kill a vampire you made.
"Yeah I guess," I replied looking down in shame. Dammit! Why of all times can I not go crazy and turn into my vampire form!
"I understand, give me a moment," she said before walking into the woods. When she reappeared it was no longer a calm vampire with a smile, but a guy vampire with scars covering his pale face.
"Now we can work on this, I dealt with a problem similar to yours, do not worry you are not alone," he said in a thick Russian accent. I realized that he wasn't full vampire and he looked normal, well kinda. He wore an old army uniform from Russia, he had a 1920 rifle slung across his shoulder. He had thick brown hair that reached his mid neck but it was tied into a small ponytail, his old hat was ripped apart and peppered with bullet holes.
"What do I do?" I asked as he took off his hat and placed it in front of him.
"Watch," he replied simply before staring into the distance with blank brown eyes, his eyes shifted from blank to enraged then giant wings appeared from his back they dragged on the ground slightly, they were torn up and a shade of russet red. His teeth extended to his chin, his eyes turned into flaming red-orange. His nails grew long and sharp and his face sank in a little to reveal a perfect bone structure.
"Your face changed, why?" I asked in amazement.
"I thought back to the worse time of my childhood, the night I was attack and almost killed. My parents died before me in our own house, I got enraged and turned into what to see now except not as terrifying. Think to an awful moment in your life, to when you changed and you felt so angry that you had to kill everyone," he hissed making him even harder to understand but I got the message. I stared off into space thinking to when my father changed me after he came home...hungry. The night I ripped my mom's throat out even though she loved me. The blood lust, the need to kill my father who was responsible for her death, the man who terrorized many throughout the ages. The man who was more deadly than the bubonic plague, the same man who fathered me and injected the rats with his venom causing the dark ages. I screamed in rage and my vision blurred red.
