Chapter 6- Janet & The Jets
The rest of the day went on normally. Not counting the endless taunting about how I'm such a "nerd."
"Hey! Danielle says to me as I close my locker."
"Hi." I reply, not in any mood to talk.
"Wanna go to the jet races after school?" She asks eagerly.
"Jet race?" My tone of voice showing interest.
"Yeah! On Mondays, there is always a Jet Race at Mawkish Park!" Mawkish Park was just down the road from where I lived.
"Sure!" I smile.
Suddenly, I see Trinity walking by, talking with some girl.
"Trinity!" I call.
Trinity turns and scowls at me.
"Shut up Gledgeek!" A Trinity says, taking form of another girl. She was the same girl from the bathroom!
I shake my head. "Sorry!"
Stupid hallucinations.

"Where are you going?" My dad asks. He was sitting on the couch, one leg on the other, reading to newspaper.
"I'm going with Danielle to a Jet Race!" I explain enthuasticly.
"Mmm. Have fun." Knowing my dad, he would have asked tons of questions like "Where is it?" and "How many people are going to be there?" But he was luckily engrossed in the daily paper.
I grab my phone and head out the door to find Danielle waiting in her car.
***
The strong wind blew against my hair, causing it to go wild. If I were in line at one of the concession stands, my hair would have been whipping somebody's face back and forth.
I saw tons of kids from school, Unfortunately. So the words "geek" and "nerd" lingered in the air.
"Welcome to this weeks Jet Race!" A lady with jet black hair announces. She grabs a black and white checkered flag from on top a velvet pillow. She then turns towards the jets and waves the flag around. "On your mark! Get set! GO!"
The jets take off, not missing their chance at winning.
The jets are speeding, at what feels like 999 miles per hour.
In reality, thats not true.
But, I like to be hyperbolic sometimes.
Watching the race was intense.
I was rooting for Jet #8 who was dangling far back. It reminded me of a poor, helpless young little girl about to go fight for her life in the Hunger Games.
I also rooted for #5 which was in front right now.
A tap on my shoulder interrupted my thoughts.
I turn to see the lady with jet black hair smiling at me.
"Hello dear." She gives me a warm smile.
"Hello." I smile weakly at her.
"I've been watching you." Her eyes narrowing at me.
"Um..I'm not sure weather to be creeped out or..." I begin.
"No no! I don't mean like that! I mean you've caught my attention. You yelling both intriguingly and loudly at the jet both in back and front. You seem like a very well deemed pilot."
My smile fades. What did she just say? 'You seem like a very well deemed pilot.' The words played over and over again in my mind. I've only ridden on an airplane ONCE! I've never intended to fly one! And in no way in HELL am I driving one of those beasts!
"Um, thanks but, whatever your offering, I'd have to decline." I say calmly. I didn't want to be mean.
She scans me with her deep, dark eyes.
"Very well then." She takes something out of an inside pocket and hands me a small card. "Heres my card. Tell me if you need anything." She then sticks out her hand. "Nice to meet you. I am Janis White."
I reach out, take the card, nod, and take her hand. "Roxy Gledwer."
"See you around sweetheart." She gives me once more warm smile, the. leaves.
She seemed so nice.
The jet #5 landed quickly, #8 close behind. Yes!
The person hops out of #8, unrecognizable
Then the person from #5 jumps out. Janet. I see a lady with jet black hair running towards Janet. She hugged her tightly. She then turned around.
It was Janis White.
I froze.
The girl who was bullying me at school.
But her mother seems so nice!
I then notice Janis going the opposite direction. Then Janet sees me. She matches over towards us.
Danielle, who was apparently ordering a giant hot dog from the concession stand, had just come back. Her mouth filled with hot dog.
"Hey nerd!" Janet screams.
I wince.
"Get over here!" She stops and places her hands on her over-grown hips.
To be honest, Janet was pretty...well..what's the right word. Eh...fat.
A big one.
So she looked completely ridiculous. Standing there, with her hands on her hips, a pathetic grin on her face, and you could tell that she barely fit in the Jet Race costume.
"Don't make me come over there Gledgeek!" She yells. Great. Now everybody was calling me that.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of muscular arms circle around my waist. "Stop." A familiar voice growls.
Janet shrieks and bows at the mystery figure towering over me.
I didn't know who it was, but I didn't want to turn around, it'd just look like a trick.
Janet then scurries away like nothing happened.
I then push myself away from the arms and turn towards the mystery man.
"You." I utter.
Chase Hawkins stood before me in a tight v-neck black T-Shirt and tight blue jeans. His hair perfectly combed back, as usual.
"Why did you have your hands on me?" I ask in amusement.
"Trying to save your butt."
"By acting like an over protective boyfriend?"
He shrugs. "Everybody knows to not hurt my girlfriends or else they will get beat up."
I laugh. "Yeah, right. So why protect me, I'm not your girlfriend."
He looks around and then stares into my eyes. And without answering, he stuffs his hands into his pockets and begins to walk away.
I grab Danielle by the arm and start dragging her to the car. Her eyes still locked on Chase. "Bye Blaze!" She waves flirtatiously at him.
