Chris woke up early and chose to call a cab instead of waking his daughter since she was not aloud to be at school until the issues of the past were resolved.

When he arrived at the school, the cab driver had been kind enough to help him back into his wheelchair. He slowly made his way into the building and into the principal’s office. She was waiting for him and her faced changed composure the minute she saw the wheelchair. Clearly she had not realized the extent to which Molly’s story covered of her family’s life. As he finished wheeling to the front of her desk, Ms. Crowley walked over to a counter.

“Would you like some coffee Mr. Thames?” she asked him calmly.

“Yes I would, thank you. Please, call me Chris.” He replied easily…Ms. Crowley looked nervous. Perhaps she was demoralized by the anger she inflicted on a man who had been submersed in so much trauma. So he decided he started explaining.

“So, Chris, would you care to explain what happened in Kentucky?” Ms. Crowley questioned with slight annoyance.

“When Molly was only seven her mother went insane. Sue-Ellen had taken all three children to the woods behind our house. She had told Molly to watch and learn and she then stabbed our youngest children; Robby who was only two and Ellie who was four. Molly screamed and ran at her trying to make her stop and so Sue-Ellen turned on Molly and stabbed her it wasn’t soon after that she stopped and held Molly in desperation to save her. Molly was always her favorite. I arrived home in time to save Molly. I was so blindly in love with my wife that I ignored her actions and dismissed her stability. It was a mistake and did all I could to help Molly forget.

“When Molly turned 12 Sue-Ellen had another mental break and killed Molly’s cat. She hung the cat on the wall and cut it open…I didn’t know because Molly covered everything up. She refused to tell me what was bothering her and just said the cat ran away. There was so much more before and after that but I still haven’t been told. She doesn’t know if I can handle it. Well then, when Molly was 14, Sue-Ellen completely lost it. She tried to kill Molly again. She ended up stabbing her after she had drugged her. She also bashed part of Molly’s head. Molly can only remember things that occurred a month after to now. It has only been a year since then and I don’t know how she can handle this. I’m so worried for her. Molly and I are the only part of our family left. I cant lose her.” Chris finished and looked at Ms. Crowley with tears in his eyes.

“I-I’m so…sorry. I..I had no idea…I cant even begin to…express my apology. If you would like Molly can be aloud to see or school counselor. Or if there is anything she really likes we can find someone to help her through this.” Ms. Crowley looked at Chris and he could see the ears fighting to break free.

“Molly is an artist…she loves art more than she loves anything. Art is her life, one of the reasons she fights for what she believes. It gives her strength.” Chris remarked.

“I see, well I have a new idea for teaching Molly. I’m going to stop her normal lessons and schooling. For the remainder of the year she will be meeting with another student. He sees our counselor is loves art as well. With supervising from Mr. Parker the two can express what they must through art and each other.” Ms. Crowley finished and dismissed Chris. She also ordered for Molly to return to school the next day.

Molly entered school the next morning bracing herself for Hell. She knew there would be rumors, she didn’t give a shit about gossip she only cared about the fighting that would ensue because some jackass got nerve. She was used to it already so there wasn’t much part in caring about anything. She had made a rule coming here, she was to be hard as nails and strong as steel. She wouldn’t los it again.
