Molly walked into the room, taking small, slow steps. She hesitated before sitting in the chair. She looked forward at the empty space. He would be sitting there. He wanted to talk with her. She had no clue why. So she sat, she stared as her eyes grew glossy and bloodshot from looking at the door. It took ages before she heard the metallic screech of the handle turning. She heard the click after the slam of the door. In front of her he stood.
Bronze hair, shining and wafting down to the back of his neck, parted down the middle. His eyes were still that bright hazel hew, sculpted face, a look of strength. He distorted his strong features into a smile, as he sat down across the slate grey table. He wore a lack t-shirt and grey jeans. He removed an envelope from his back pocket and slid it across the table to Molly.
Molly took the white envelope and carefully slid her nail across the fold, opening it. She retrieved the card and opened it to read.
Molly,
Please forgive me for never telling you. I would tell this to you now but its too painful for me to see you mad. Especially when you get mad at me. I told you once, and you refused to speak to me. You told your mother. So my mother and I had to leave. I wasn’t there to keep you safe and soon you couldn’t remember me.
One day we came back and we stayed, but you had no clue of what happened. You didn’t recognize me or know who I was. So we started over, I was only like a brother instead of your brother. I have been so worried because there is so much about our family that you don’t understand yet. I have to tell you, but you need to let me. I need you to let me help you. We aren’t normal, you and I, but we still need to act it.
So once you’re better, and not as sick, I’m going to show you and we are going to fix what’s been done. Molly, your mother is still alive. She knows where you are. She sent that crazy bitch after you and she won’t stop. She knows what’s going to happen to you and she won’t let it happen. I can’t even tell you what will happen. So please forgive me already. You’re my sister and I love you, don’t make this harder than it has to be.
Love, your brother Jason.
“How’ve you been Mollz? Did you like your birthday card?” Jason asked her. She could recognize the caution in his voice. It was just a matter of keeping up with his façade.
Molly swallowed hard before speaking up; “I really love it Jay, thank you. I’ve been really good since they started the new treatments. Anyways, how’s your mom?”
They talked for a good amount of time, including many double meaning to every sentence. Molly just had no clue why they had to keep it secret. As far as she knew the room was secure, and wasn’t being monitored. Then again, Molly had no clue of her surroundings; she was too doped up to really understand what was going on.
Midway through the conversation they heard the metallic screech of the door handle and a man entered the room. “Alright, visitations are over, Molly if you will please come with me back to your room, Jason I do believe you know your way out.” The man rudely remarked.
“Whatever.” Molly groaned to the man, and then turned to Jason. “Bye, Jay!” she enthusiastically remarked followed by a quick hug.
“Bye Molly…” He replied; whispering it softly into her ear. Then she left with the man and he returned back to her own house, to speak with her father.
Jason slowly latched the door behind him and crept into the dining room. There he found his mother and father holding dinner for him. He sat down and prepared to speak when his mother interrupted.
“How did it go?!” Sally spoke; her voice was high and had a slightly girlish tone to it.
“It went fine, Mom. She took it well. In fact she is perfectly fine this time. She wants to move ahead with the plan and she needs to know very soon about our umm…history…” Jason grew quiet at the end and looked into Chris’ eyes.
“How soon Jay?” Chris asked, running a hand through his hair.
“As soon as possible. Which if I’m right, wont be too long.” As soon as Jason finished speaking Sally and Chris looked at each other, and then at their son with the strangest look in their eyes. A crazy look, which only this family could get.
Josh Parker stepped off of the elevator with his brother Danny and marched himself into Molly’s room. He slipped on a mask and a wig then sat down on the foot of her bed. He poked her and quickly looked the other way.
“Who the Hell are you?” Molly blankly stuttered.
“I’m a fairy princess!” Josh said in a high pitched, girly voice. Then he stood up and twirled around in a circle, his costume complete with a dress and wings.
“Oh. My. God. You are sooo embarrassing!” Molly choked out between fits of laughter. She laughed so hard she started to cry.
“Is it really that bad?” Josh asked his brother in the same voice.
“Which part? The part where you’re acting like a mental patient or the part where anybody can mistake you for a transvestite?” Danny stuttered holding his stomach from laughing so hard.
“Seriously Josh, how do you have a girlfriend? How do you even friends?!” Molly burst out. She saw a few of the nurses gathered around the room, Josh’s face was turning tomato red and Danny was curled up on the ground.
Josh and Danny stayed for about two hours before they had to leave. Danny was going back to school and that meant so was Josh.
“Bye Molly.” Josh replied before leaving the room.
“Bye Molly, happy Halloween…” Danny whispered into her ear, he kissed her on the forehead and left the room. Molly went to sleep; for once she would have good dreams. For once….
