Chapter 5
VALMONT
"Mom! Mom!"
Aphrodite shouted, startled. It was the break of day. She was lying in her bed on her back. Slowly she moved her fingers down to her groin area. There was something she could feel there.
"Look at it, mom!" she said as soon as her mother came into her room and approached her bed. "I am losing blood."
Aphrodite raised her hand and her mother could see blood on her pale fingers.
"Stay calm," Dora said. "It is something natural. Now you are in puberty."
"Puberty?" Aphrodite frowned at her mother. "What do you mean?"
Dora looked tolerantly at her daughter. She sat down by her daughter's side. She exhaled noisily and started explaining. "Every girl your age will start bleeding for the first time and every month you will have that blood loss." Her hand touched Aphrodite's face. "But don't worry, it's normal."
"Valmont will go through this as well?"
"No, no," Dora shook her head and smiled. "Only women get this, dear."
Shortly after that, Aphrodite glanced down at her own body. She feared her blood leaving her body. Even though her mother had just explained to her all about it, she still felt afraid.
"Come with me!" her mother said. "You must take a bath to remove this blood from your body. I'll also have to change your bedclothes."
Aphrodite got up from her bed and followed her mother into the bathroom. Just in this moment, I hid myself behind the corridor wall so that they would not see me there.
I didn't want them to know I had listened to their conversation secretly. After I saw them move into the bathroom and close the door behind them I glanced sideways and walked quickly to Aphrodite's room. Her door was open and that made my entrance easier.
I marched up to her bed. My eyes were attached to the blood on her sheet. I fell down on my knees. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the sight of the blood. I confess I stayed there looking and feeling quite astonished at her blood. Soon my fingers slid over her red blood on her white sheet. I lifted my fingers up towards my eyes. I saw all that red blood before me. I thought that it was something exceptional. Wow, very fantastical.
I turned my head to the side and shook my head as I realized I was absolutely fascinated by human blood. That was not normal. I should not stay there, kneeling down by her bed, examining her blood.
What is happening to me? I wondered.
I looked at my fingers covered with red blood. A tear ran down my face as I thought to myself, "I must be going crazy."
I glanced back over my shoulder and checked the doorway. I got up and hid my fingers with blood behind my back. Turning away I walked quickly out of the bedroom.
That shouldn't have happened. I thought as I went back to my room. Actually, I was confused with myself, my behavior. I saw no motive for me to act like that. I was a human being and I shouldn't like seeing human blood before my eyes.
A normal person would never like it the way I liked it – under no circumstances.
